Why can't I drive?

Permanent Linkby xod_s on Mon Dec 23, 2013 3:33 am

Years ago during a neuropsych evaluation after-talk one of a doctor told me why I can't drive ^1 and years before that my sister said I should look up more youtube videos on how to drive.I've done it a few very rare times and to be honest it s----ks .To me driving isn't some super fun ability.I have no social life and am even less inclined to frequently venture out to places far off.To me driving is a dulll a---,fact of life that we've been pushed to have to do even in the face of an ugly a--- energy and transportation crisis that we'll prob. meet soon lest the higher invisible a--- forces of societal heckle and jeckling into complecency get you first ^2.

I realized something today.When I was little and without purpose in my life (wondering about it brought me much turmoil and what a conventional dumba--- would describe as "this kid can't make desciions for himself"^3) I would watch TV for hours on end waiting for next fave show to pop up.Thus one cause of my eyes wasting away into near-sightedness and a lost oppurtunity to improve my physicality and perhaps have lived to see my limp go away sooner :| .Now I do something like that a bit more when on the internet.Whenever my favorite video producers aren't putting out good stuff or deviant art ain't doing it for me or when cracked.com is on a dry run I wander around sites (mostly youtube) looking for something to watch ^4 .But not how to drive videos.B/c they're so d--- dull.

Unlike my sister who made the d--- brillant and simple move when she was little of watching my parents steer^5 all this time whilst I lost virtually all interest after finding out from my parents about all the many rules while playing with toy cars,thinking about how it's not legal to drive unless you have a G1^6 till I hit 15-sih and started hearing ppl jabber storms about this in a certain s-- hole.It's short a\of a miracle that my sister learned it from my dad^7 out of all ppl;one of the few ppl who can be accounted as a free source of this gate-passing ability. :? My mom^8 doesn't go out as much as my dad to "justify" having the time and chances to show me.

*A* reason why how to drive vids dull me out?.I've always have had a tendancy to look at the scenery moving by.Maybe it's the passing by,the show of transcience,of seeming fleeting when in reality everything is still and you just (optimally) sift thru others with their own concerns in a magic ~2 tonne can with SO much social significance..that and trouble making eye contact with one instructing makes it a butt pain.

D--- I'm not more surprised more indie or advant-garde media makers make stuff out of learning how to drive or that there's more how-to books by groups like the "complete idiots guide to" or "for dummies" line on the subject.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a few new years resolutions :|
-look at how-to drive vids instead of the non regular go-to intenet media fare
-learn to get along/appreciate your dog more
-different apporach to your sister...one of neutral treatment like a cosuin :| ..to lessen vindictiveness? :| :?
-"strength" training ala "firefighter^9 fitness for 30 minutes a day"...(and a step closer to irl abs;perma-abs-->permenant abs (preferabbly 8 pack)^10) and bodyweight exercises to one day do Duncan Wong style stuff like this http://www.yogachicago.com/jul01/webart/duncanb.jpg
-a true look-see venture...
A slow routine day I'm thankful for
Permanent Linkby xod_s on Sun Dec 22, 2013 7:46 pm
In the end I picked developmental psych.
It's been a slow day.If I knew it was going to be like this I would've done my at home exercise routine soon after waking up.I was originally going to go a fitness centre I still got 2/3 more free days to go too but I got distracted by internauting before I noticed that it was 12 something.The place closes at 5 and I'd like to be there for 6 hours exact but I lost the drive to go esp.with the year ending and schedules for opening times of places being all over the place.I might kick myself later for not embracing the oppurtunity^1.I'll finish this exercise routine book by Saturday and then we'll see what to do then after.
I just called and the hours for the last three days of the year are regular.You know I'm thankful for days like these.In the past I'd prob.be giving myself big internal turmoil if not just being inactive in the impression of what most ppl would slap the label "lazy" at me without batting an eyelash but nowadays I got other heady but with purpose activities I could do like write here.The weather outside isn't bad for a Canadian winter.Two days of heavy snowfall with two days of cold rain drillzing down but fortunately not having froze hard by cold outside temperatures.Meaning big clods of snow over soggy grass around wet and cleared sidewalks ^_^ .
^1 a word I'm not used to saying often,that I'm not to sure if I like using often,one reason being it's buzzword "trying to make regular or bad things seem good" usage in common ocnvention
I just called and the hours for the last three days of the year are regular.
Trouble picking b/c I dont feel like taking fornesic anthro now
Permanent Linkby xod_s on Wed Nov 27, 2013 6:56 pm
:? With the bad mark I got on a recent online quiz and me not still not caring much for physical anthro despite having a heightened appreciation of it now when timetable pickings roll around tomorrow I've got trouble picking the 5th one.
The four I'm decided on is
-Group Dynamics - A Human Services Perspective
-Literature for General Arts & Science
-Issues In Health And Healing
-Race and Ethnic Dynamics
Now I'm deciding between
-Developmental psych
-Intro to globalization
And
-Sociology 2
With the offbeat change that I might even be able to take business next semester…but no I’ll get that in office admin.I’m in gen.arts and sci to have fun and enjoy myself for once.Let’s look at the descriptions
For all these classes though it’s always nice to soley hear a teacher talk on a subject like this b/c you get nice glimpse at a maybe intellectual’s take on something and it’s nice to see someone use their voice so up close
Sociology 2
“Sociology provides links between human behaviour and the social environment. This course explores the diverse perspectives that may be used to explain the connection between behaviour and social world. It demonstrates the way systematic studies are used to promote questions of assumptions about social life. Particular areas of study include social structure, social interaction, inequality of race, ethnicity and gender, the family, population, and social movements and social change.”
Whereas Sociology 1 was
“Sociology provides insight into how society influences human behaviour. By studying the problems and social issues in society, we are able to gain a better understanding of how society affects people. This course explores various sociological perspectives and demonstrates how systematic studies are used to challenge commonsense perspectives about social life. Particular areas of study include culture, socialization, deviant behaviour, social inequality and economy.”
Seems like soc2 is an expansion pack on soc1.I took soc1 over the summer and while fun and I learned a lot I was lazy that semester and that was when it was all on computer with essentially a few essays to do every now and then with online evaluations.Regular day school will take advantage to pile on the work, so no.Seems like something I can pick up on,on a typical library shelf. talk about such things and what they’re talking about reflecting on their personality and upbringing
Globalization
“This course will explain main definitions related to globalization: colonialization, neoliberalism, deregulation, WTO, IMF, free trade, fair trade, etc. It will also examine different global issues in each continent, for example, labour conditions in Asia, extraction of mineral resources in Africa, the European Union labour market, racism in Europe, the USA influence in the economic development of Latin America, migration in North America, sustainability in Canada. The majority of these global issues will be analyzed from a Global North/ Global South perspective.”
:| Meeh… seems like much of the stuff I can find in a typical newspaper with this class showing me how to deconstruct like I've been learning in pop culture this semester where we talked about current pop culture stuff we also talked about deconstructing abstract cultural ideas and brought up some interesting theorists.But I also remember a similar class in high school I switched out of b/c I meant to originally take co-op.Soon after I heard about the loads of work the teacher was pressing which I can happening here..but a lot of this stuff I’ve already heard about and I don’t really wanna rehash when "the layers that are offered on the meal are tastes I’m already familiar with".Nice to see the use of “global south and global north” though.
Development psych
“The study of human...
Paraphrasing Robert Jensen which would've gone better yestreday
Permanent Linkby xod_s on Sun Nov 24, 2013 12:22 am
with the "It'd think it'd be 2 hasty 2 say hierarchies r obselete cuz o dis" posting
.....................................
-Once we get out of this conception of power only only as power over-->.i.e. power as ability to make ppl do what they would otherwise not do.
--->to “power with”; the creative sense of human power,the ability to come together not b/c we're exactly the same,not b/c we always agree but in collaboration,to create,to magnify the power o'each person ,not to control others,but to create something new
“power with” is power that has transcended hierarchy
-Hierarchy IS NOT inevitable.We get that lesson constantly but most esp.compellingly in economy.We have been sold as a “bill of goods” by systems like feudalism and capitalism.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

take your way and think however you like on how "true" you would believe to be but in the least it's a great attitude,imo.
