I do believe personally, that I have a personal problem and the symptoms of the DSM-IV provide a construct for that.

I am scarred. I believe perhaps that Borderline should be called Complex PTSD because that's really more of what it is. It is a form of PTSD formed from a lack of community, lack of family dynamic and is a blindness of the knowledge of how to live. It is a form of walking woundedness and the victim is the one who is blamed.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT BLAMING ANY GENERATION FOR ANYTHING. I AM JUST TELLING WHAT HAPPENED.

But anyway, to get back to borderline, I believe that there is a significant problem created by society because as of the 1960's, pop psychology brought us all of these "manuals" and "experts" and the generation that had been brought up in that era were indulged and the trauma of WWII had created (artificial) prosperity. So, the generations afterward didn't know quite what to do in the area of parenting.

A false democracy developed from the medicalization of pathologies. The Nazi folks USED the good graces of the nieve liberal and wove the compassion of the liberal with the eugenics and #######4 of the Nazi eugenic regime and thus was born modern psychiatry.

The later generations of average people, had no real place in society. Everyone has to be considered "exceptional" and yet only exceptional people are allowed to be artists (as KM inferred in a different post).

The positions of the artisan-a craftsman who knows a lot about the elements and uses the elements of metal, glass and masonry as an art form, was almost made extinct after the Industrial Revolution but could have continued in the areas of plumbing, electrician-vocations and other vocations of the sort. I suspect that many a plumber and many an electrician has/d a book of poetry in their satchel. I come from a common family that is educated but whose ordinary folks like books and art.

And insanity does exist, but society was never enlightened enough to know how to deal with it. Ancient Islamists knew to treat such people gently; aboringones knew to have sooth sayers and shamans; ancient civlizations, I am sure, had their scientists and chemists/alchemists and astronomers.

So, my parents who were brilliant but still adult children, could deal with the MENSA and gifted sibs who were easy to bring up because they brought themselves up. But when the troubled, special ed youngest came, they didn't have the parenting skills to deal with it, and thus, borderline personality was borne from that abandonment, from that incest and abuses. The older sibs had their intellect to bring them out; I did not.

So, borderline is borne of a confusion between female gender roles, not being properly loved and parented by people who do not know how to love or parent, by artificial controls that are presented by society, and by the bright population who is right under the genius and the gifted who are bright enough to know what is wrong but aren't smart enough to know how to develop that core. The Ego strength is harmed because of the lack of developmental interpersonal knowledge.

One of the greatest blasphemies is the taking of one's freedom of thought, dictating matters of the heart and the theft of another's personal peace.

If I rot, I want to rot well and enjoy the small bits of life that are pleasant.

To be one's true self is both noble and dangerous.
