When I say that I didn't raise my daughter, I do mean that my ex raised her. When I was 25 I was very psychotic and wasn't a fit parent. I was aware of this and gave my daughter for my ex to bring up. What I mean about her raising herself was that even though he parented, she basically learned most stuff on her own. He introduced her to a lot of good stuff and he was an okay parent, but she took the intiative on many things. He's not a bad guy; he just had a bad childhood and was misunderstood.
One of the greatest blasphemies is the taking of one's freedom of thought, dictating matters of the heart and the theft of another's personal peace.
