The weather took an erratic twist today w/the snowing that was do-able.It'd be more favorable if it isn't like that today esp.during the time before sunset.

Am I going to ask?

Permanent Linkby xod_s on Sat Apr 12, 2014 10:43 pm

Years ago in HRE201 (Grade 10 open level religion class) we got a handout paper on Descartes. It brought up "cognito ergo sum" and why "questioning for the sake of questioning" isn't always good...

...I badly wish I knew what it said about that :| ,even if I'd disagree and/or interpret it a different way,an ad verabitim quote on that would be nice. It's one of those things in life when you've grown to be extra active on thinking why,for what reasons and why your justified in the reasons for something you do...when you know you've come across such reasons long before.

A "quasi-answer" to why it can be said that questioning for the sake of questioning can not always be good and even harmful.Umm :|? ..

the pursuit of knowledge (intellectualism?) is a form of consequentialism/teleology with an undertone making the imperative that the best action is the one that best fosters and promotes knowledge.Add cultural constructs as needed or prefferably not anything else aside from safety and care for life ^4.

To go searching for knowledge is human^1 in the best and worst senses of the word.Do be careful not to fall in the "worst sense" of the word.Too often still w/our organized knowledge we've given into a hokey, junky, linear melliorism that "Logic=rationality.Rationality=progress. Progess=superiority
Therefore if you are against it you are laughably backwards and we are obligated to turn our noses up at you and be arbitrary a----wipes who pretend to not be frail limited human animals like anyone else is unshamably suppose to be"^5.

"A mind all logic is like a knife all blade: it makes the hand bleed that wields it. " is what Rabindranath Tagore said ,not even having to say about what chain reaction this sends to epistemology and the engagement of information encoutering, porducing, distrubution and extract we must do/engage in on a daily basis.

B/c knowledge is power^2,wisdome serves and reality^3 resists simplicity. When questioning for the sake of questioning please do consistent check-ups of your conceptual volition so that the "before you know it,your walking on the razor's edge" doesn't happen to you.

^1 and brings out what is human

^2 and power can corrupt

^3 with it's tediousness,subtlities,heavy interonnectiveness and all

^4 B/c many exploitable dinghole peers of yours like business will gladly comprimse safety and evenutally your work b/c you never said anything about safety (by itself)

^5 That dinosaur of thinking/justification is being attacked currently as we are seeing that you can infere out a not-so-anthropogenic form of morality in the form of enviromentalism so neccesary for the plantary help of where you stand on,doing your work.

Business...-_-..I'll see and talk to you soon..

Da sort of math I forgot/shoulda mentioned prior was game theory

Why I think it takes 5x for stuff to stick into my head

-1 time when I first get something done correctly

-2 times for me repeating it and not losing that aptness

-3 times for my body's reception to pick up on the reflex

-4 times for me to get used to doing it

-5 times to get the thing finally embedded in me

Sometimes things are in my head and no amount of additional reading on neurosci or such is needed to have to change this notional idea I have that it takes me this long to learn something.

My g.7 teacher once said that the most difficult sort of intelligence to develop is spatial and I have the thrust to seek and be a container of it when it comes to learning how to drive.

I've recently heard that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is interested in a (movie? :? ) adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" which is being revisted/getting a bit of continuation with "Sandman:overture" probably b/c of an adaptation of some sort actually going to solidified this time and prob.b/c the "Vertigo" imprint is going to soon be discontinued.

Last time I heard it was suppose 2 have become an HBO series by last year's end period.I can definately see something that high concept working on HBO and even if couldn't like adapt 80% of the original series plot, I could see it being in my mind it'd be like the 90's-early 00's version of "the outer limits" meets "Tales from the cryptkeeper" meets the family tensions of high profile beings like anthropomorphic personifications of life principles sometimes tangling w/other supernatural beings, special emphasis on a mopey brother who turns out to getting ready to die and finding his son.

I've read some volumes of it and I can see why it was advertised long ago as a "horror edged fantasy" and was considered groundbreaking and innovative enough to further break the mould saying comic books are low-brow kids stuff.here's "holes" in the structure of the series though like how such powerful beings having been around since near the inception of the cosmos are only running into the problems their running into with the recently emergence of humans but while I do think Gaiman gets a bit overhyped by the public for whenever he does something this series An insulting glib answer to what it is would be to call it "[the]99 'first supernatural world' problems [of Morpheus].

Seeing how some DA site ppl take pictures of a scenerio w/action figures, have them pose and edit stuff really reminds me how when I was little I'd sometimes get my toys to pose in a particular way before laying on my belly on the floor, hands holding my head and me just imaging for a while what the toys would be doing, what'd happen in that scenerio, appreciating the seemingly unreplicable "coolness" of the toy's pose etc.

Times when I speak organically and such make me really think,(just) how do I improve?.One of the reasons I think I learn slowly is b/c my capability to cognitize and conceptualize/imagine have gotta develop concurrently to get something down.

:| Xod_s you know that a lot of these things that you tell yourself can vanish in a poof even if a psych person were to verify what your saying.Your mind is capable like everyone else b/c it's not about it's structure. The structure of the brain like anyone's else doesn't have the quality of it's mind functions or execution of performance dependant on the structure itself. The *ability* to use a mind while not fully "independant" of the brain is a different thing.Hence so much mystery still surrounding the big meat computer tool/instrument.

Heck even the metaphor of the brain as a computer is riddled with holes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computational_theory_of_mind

Ppl who follow "forecasting" methods...

Makes me think that perhaps one one to keep objective in the smoke and mirrors realm of politics is (if you can) by using math to model out stuff and make your desicions when it feels right to^1.Better than consistently sticking to the ideologies, assumptions of self-serving,puppet stringing and persuasion^2 (something really dangerous when running on emotion) that have been the common operating method for centuries and worth a try,I suppose.Whenever policy is made please, aside from considering obvious legal implementation, think about the health^3 of those NOT brought up in a policy main impact group.Esp.those for whom entering/getting involved in the realm of politics would take a lot of struggle very questionably feasible ^4

When I looked on a wiki page listing political scientists I'm surprised by the eclectic range of topics ppl had their education in (including a notable numbers of mathematicians in the fray) and not as many ppl from (overtly) humanities like cultural studies as I thought there'd be ^5

There's a difference btw political science and political theory,it seems.Like the differences btw Robert Axelrod and John Locke.Convergence is a fine thing tricky to assert.

Not all philosophers are cultural critics either. Keirkegaard had more to say on society than Descartes^6

^1 I say this b/c I can imagine to many a fool wanting to get things their way, having use

^2 Money,strong-arming,appeal to factions within, take you pick as to what you wanna say

^3 Better than saying "well-being" '~',ever overused?

^4 Ex's.the disabled, the very poor, expectant or recent parents add etc

^5 Is that/could that be a problem '~'

^6 and this is *just in the "West"* ..though with how "Eastern" philosophy has an arguably wider pervasiveness in regional societies b/c of the intense relationships/blurs it has w/regional religions..hmm `_`

I'm reiterating this from my blog with an added important bit

Permanent Linkby xod_s on Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:17 am
So often when having to choose btw the right thing and the more pleasant thing they choose the comfort and gain of the latter's self-interest instead of being self-forgetful about advantages that make one less inclusive to others in place of the sake of a sincere action of compassionate openness to treat others as well as you would treat yourself by virtue of solely that.

While many a entity from jerk bosses, jerk school peers, jerk ideologies, jerk corporations and jerk mass societal behavioral habits tend to go with more favorable-for-them choice so often when ppl struggle to find a good retort or a good reason to go with the former of doing the right thing, one big important thing is often forgotten. For long-term existence, doing the right thing not only might be a kind thing to do to others but it is very often the healthier thing to do for long term existence.
And this health is what I think is far more often more important than what flies for the "rational" thing to do.Such a concept so often abused not only by those who claim and say that they follow the idea b/c of what it is by itself but b/c of self-serving parties who try to glitz up the appeal of what they wanna do by using the meaning of this word assuming the way it is evaluated a/o judged is favorable for them.

/////

-_- Dang how I despise lost weekends like this b/c of screwy sleep patterns.

I sorta tolerate getting dragged around by my family to wherever the heck they wanna go b/c.....the pattern of my "is there homework status" is nigh-mutable and were I to tell them directly it'd be no surprise to them that even if they asked me out of courtesy that there going out somewhere for hundreds of times on end I'd be saying"No.I'm sorry I have homework to do".Not so far off from the usual absence I have for them.

Xod_s get your ash to school by 10,you got an appointment with a counselor.Plenty to talk about but let's first of all stick with the most recent, pressing and somewhat health related. The sleep paralysis you just had and the "bad habits" of another person here.

How you hate the painful liminality of only wishing/(hoping?) that you at least passed that psych test that you felt collided you on the blindside. You got

-an ethics question to complete with your answers
-the english outline work and send your teacher an outline
-figure out the prices of 3 CE courses
-a forum q for enviro on the way

-Book your lit exam >8( !

Ok
