I know a lot of the horse work for next gen gaming is going more server side and streaming but I think the issue brewing up in a lot of gamer's minds is what sort of single player modes will be out there and how might they be better.
In terms of graphics the next gen consoles seem to have a lot of personal horse power but with all that horse power one has to as much as the developer resist require more data capacity.
So the more complex detail you want the more data capacity is an issue.
For a long time now people have been griping about a few things that most single player mode games have not satisfied.
Single player games lack enough freedom and can be completed to quickly.
So what might change about these issues with regard to using better AI to achieve this goal.
Well with better AI you could have better plot variation and you could use AI to generate scenes and places and then touch it up with some professional artists and extra AI tools.
So your games could take weeks not days to complete for your average gamer and the AI could be more interesting and sometimes more challenging.
In terms of data capacity which will play a big role in all of this, well at the enterprise end you can already buy 30tb drives, If you can even buy drives half this size for next gen consoles by a few years then capacity will be less of a problem than if the maximum capacity grows more slowly in that market sector.
