Confused

Is anybody out there? My long term counsellor recently told me I may have cyclothymia. I spoke to her again yesterday and she backpedalled saying I shouldn't worry too much, that it won't develop into bipolar and that there were alot of things that happened in my childhood that complicate things. Anyway I don't know what to do. I know that I need to stabilise my moods and get on the right medication....am on prozac ...

Help!

So, I don't really know whether I have cyclothymia or not but it seems very likely. I only realized the possibility yesterday after a huge breakdown involving me crying at the gym and having to leave.

I'm 20 years old, fit, healthy, reasonably intelligent but have noticed more and more, especially over the last two years that I seem to cycle between being incredibly creative, rash, talkative, energetic, and just lovable in general to depressed. ...

Relationships with Cyclothymia

Hey guys,

My Boyfriend and I have been together for 7 months and have enjoyed every moment of it. Within the first few months after a depression manic episode my boyfriend told me that he suffers from Cyclothymia. I did a lot of reading on what it was and how people act, and from what I can tell he has a very mild case, he mainly has positive manic episodes with hyper-productivity and excessive good ...

cyclothymia and medication and relationships and family

Hi,

I am a 26 year old female. I am in my final year of my PhD. I believe I have cyclothymia.

I am concerned about my mood swings - for example, one minute being really happy and productive and doing nice things for other people and my irritability and the way I fly off the handle and shout at my partner for no real reason (although I feel completely justified at the time!) and ...

Diagnosed with Cyclothymia in the past

Never posted here before, but one pretty good psych MD diagnosed me with this after doing pretty extensive testing and medication trials in the hospital. When I stopped seeing him and went to the mental health center, they in their infinite wisdom never followed up with that and diagnosed me incorrectly with bipolar, then changed it to Mood disorder NOS with severe depressive disorder. They really tried to stick me with the bipolar diagnosis, but ...

Im trying to understand all of this

Im trying to understand the differences between cyclothymia, mood disorders and bi polar because I am trying to figure out what is wrong with me. Truth is I cant afford to see a psyche and when I speak to a general GP they seem to listen and agree with whatever I say.
I see there have been a couple of similar threads but Im hoping someone could assist with more info or advice.

Basically to ...

Studies On Careers For Those Who Have Cyclothymic Disorder??

Thank you to the hosts of this good and useful forum.
Has there been any research on those with CD in relationship to careers? Perhaps there are those out there with this condition who are successful, happy and have had longevity in their career/job(s).

It seems to me that there just might be careers or special types of jobs that fit the mold for those with Cyclothymic Disorder.
Being successful in the workplace is important ...

Another "Am I Cyclothymic" Thread

Hi guys,

This is my first post here, so I suppose I'd better tell you a little about myself. I'm about to turn 18, I am currently at college studying the sciences with an aim to go into medicine. My ultimate ambition is to become a neurosurgeon, possibly preceded by a stint as a Medical Officer in the RAF, if possible. I have a wonderful girlfriend of 5 months, who is suffering from an as-yet ...

Girlfriend with Cyclothymia?

Hello Everyone,

I have been with my girlfriend for 2.5 years and am noticing a cyclical pattern with her behavior. At first I thought it might be a bipolar disorder but she does not get as extreme as the symptoms listed. Then I stumbled across Cyclothymia and thought maybe. When we first started dating we had our own space and we would go back and forth between each others places or have alone time. Over ...
