Cyclothymia-some answers and a solution for some-just maybe

I stumbled upon this forum and over the past few days have read most of the posts in the Cyclothymia page. I have found it really sad to read some of the letters – particularly the one from 16 year old Nicola from the UK (typsee newbee). This sounds like me at that age. Lots of bewildering questions and very few satisfactory answers. I tried to contact her (no reply) but nearly 2 years have ...

Antidepressant induced Cyclothymia?

Hey people, I'm a newbie here.
I'm 19, and I've suffered from OCD and other anxiety disorders for most of my life. Last year, I finally decided to seek medical help, and I've been put on antidepressants, which helped immensely. Right now, I'm only taking Anafranil (Clomipramine), a tricyclic.
The thing is, having never suffered from mood disorders before, thankfully, I seem to find myself suffering from odd mood swings, sometimes happing over the course ...

I fear my husband may suffer from cyclothymia

I've been with my husband for 14 years. We've had our ups and downs, and usually they happen in a very cyclical pattern. I noticed the pattern after we'd been together for about 7 years. He has a genetic history of bipolar in his family. His sister is bipolar with borderline personality disorder. For years I've thought maybe he just suffered from seasonal affective disorder, but now I wonder. His behavior has become unbearable for ...

I've been recently diagnosed with cyclothymia, and I have tried Depakote and am now on Lamictal as well as Wellbutrin. Im struggling with the fact that I do not think anyone deserves to be burdened by me, yet I want to have a relationship. How do you tell someone when you start dating them? How do you deal with the battles inside your mind about yourself and your $#%^?...

I disagree with Diagnosis

Hello All

At Last I've found a forum for Cyclothymics

It's taken me a while for a shrink to take me seriously...ie " Well there's not much one can do for Cyclothymia" I have found the SHO's better than the actual Consultants. This last one actually talked about mood stabalisers and how Lithium helps with the depression aswell as the hypomania. My only concern is weight gain as it can slow the metabolism down and ...

Unstable mood disorder vs. Bipolar and Cyclothymia?

I have lived with depression for about 30 years. My daughter recently has had some problems too. She just went to a psychiatrist and he told her she has Unstable Mood Disorder. She looked this up on the internet, and now she thinks she is BiPolar and "crazy." She called me up tonight crying and telling me she doesn't want to be "crazy." First of all, I don't think she is bipolar at all. She ...
