My brother's diagnosis?

I have recently been more concerned about my brother's lifestyle than ever before. He just turned 27, and what seemed to be a "phase" in his early 20's is turning into a way of life for him. I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out if he has a mental illness, and if so, what it might be.

First of all, he has never had a girlfriend and as far as I know ...

How to separate from HPD friend?

I need help and was happy to find this forum. I have an ex-friend (who denies the ex status) who lives in a guest house on my property. I have been friends with her for about 16 years and I cannot take it anymore. I'm tired of the therapist-patient relationship that is now what our friendship was, and after a single-sided number of years, I've made the effort to step back. It took me so ...

Reads on my post. no comments yet "Was this BPD.."

These boards have been very helpful. My original post was probably to long but I would appreciate some outside viewpoints on it. It was titled "Was this BPD or something else.." and can be found under my screen name. I would like to put this whole thing behind me and this is my way of getting closure. Thanks again.

My girlfriend is bulimic

I recently found out (by her) that my girlfriend is bulimic. She is not through her worst phase, from what I know she's done it a couple of times during the last 6 months (of course we can never know for sure as she is afraid to disclose lots of information from harming the relationship and scaring me away)

She claims its not an appearance issue - but rather a control issue of how what ...

partner doesn't experience full range of emotions

posted this the other day in living with mental illness, but only got a reply from one person, so posting it here in hopes of getting some more insight.

I'm not sure what exactly I'm looking for here, just information I guess? I've always known that my partner of 2.5+ years doesn't express emotions well/much at all, or is uncomfortable with them, but last night he informed me that it's not just a lack of ...

Support needed-Unusual behaviour from wife (bpd?)

***mod edit: moving this post to significant others, family & friends***

I could do with some differing perspectives. I wonder if I am witnessing something I have read as splitting. Truth me told, I am at such a loss, and could do with some perspectives on this.

My wife and I married for the first time in 2005. She was a divorcee. I knew her first husband, whom she described as aggressive, and one of ...

Bipolar Girlfriend.

Hi guys. I just joined here to ask these things cause I didnt really know where else to go, this forum seems more active than most.

So I met this girl over summer. We hung out a bit but we live in different citites (not a long distance really but enough so I can't just pop round to see her) so we text a lot and talk online. She was fine through the whole of ...

How do you stop doubting yourself?

I would have placed this in the abuse forum, but I feel like I'll get better responses here since I'm dealing with a very specific kind of abuse.

I think my mom might have NPD or another PD. I would go into detail but there's so much, I don't know where to begin. But I find that I am constantly going through cycles of self-doubt, where I manage to convince myself that what happened is ...

Just figured out my brother is a narcissist !

Okay took me until my 51st birthday to come to this conclusion . He out of the blue decided he wasn't coming to see me on my birthday last weekend. He lives close, so that was not the problem.
There was no problem between us at least that's what I thought.
I took this very hard as I love my brother. I even donated a kidney to him 13 years ago!
I am being treated ...

ex w/NPD traits is stalking me- what to expect?

'ello,

My ex has not been officially diagnosed, because he doesn't think any therapist can help him (he already knows all their tactics, he's read the whole DSM, etc). During my research as I was trying to figure out my own problems (my therapist agrees I have BPD traits), it seemed likely that NPD was his issue- not that I was the first person to ever suggest it. Ex naturally denies having any narcissistic qualities. ...
