Some memories

My father trying to make me believe I was not abused. For example, when I told him he engaged in child abuse he told me that children make-believe these things.

It always felt like he "hated" children. I sometimes wondered if he had pedophilia stuff. He'd say sexually inappropriate things to my friends and my little sister's friends.

Wondering about family, old friends: advice please?

Reaching out. Doing this on the abuse forum b/c there is a history of abuse from family/old friends.

I can't decide if I have been the one who has been "toxic" or if my family/childhood friends have been. I've made mistakes but I wonder how much my "mistakes" have been not so bad.

I am going "limited contact"/distancing from my parents, but decided to keep my siblings in my life. But now I wonder if ...

Are we being abused

I'm 17 and living with my three younger siblings, my mum and stepdad. Ever since they married, he'd taken to always critisizing us for being stupid or lazy or 'bloody spoilt brats'. He'd often be set off by the smallest of things like if we forgot to lock the gate or watched TV and then couldn't answer his questions. He said that this is all about him wanting to 'improve' us so that we 'don't ...

Does it ever get better?

Throughout my childhood I have been emotionally abused by my mother and I have been seriously bullied at school. I still very much struggle with the feeling of being unwanted and ideas of "being destined to be alone forever". I have been in therapy soon for four years and I have had quite some successes, however the main issues seem to still prevail. Hence my question to others- has anyone got to the point where ...

sad

I'm so sad. My parents got abusive b/c of their mood disorders. They didn't mean what they did but still...they had bipolar-ish stuff, so I know it makes it not their faults, but I'm hurt. (crying)

Hiya, new here. Here's my story

Hello, I am new to this forum and I joined just today but I wanted someplace to share my story because it has been bothering me that no one knows. I am too afraid to call the police because I am afraid of starting over, so I figure I will just wait until I graduate from high school. Here is my story:

My father was a drunkard and smoked constantly. He also used to beat ...

US ASCA group meetings, support groups, any info please

I am in Australia and although we have a national Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA) organisation it does very little. Well it does a monthly Newsletter, a support line (just don't ask for anything other than hand holding), runs professional workshops for Trauma specialists/professionals and tries to have one workshop a year in each state for around 40 people, plus a "national Blue ribbon day"to raise awareness.

I am trying to compare it with ...

Is this child abuse?

A seven year old child was smacked hard in the mouth by a parent. Their lip had teeth impressions on the inner side and a slightly swollen look on the outside.

Other people in the child's life are being told this is not abuse, and if they try and report it as abuse, they are hysterical.

Is this abuse? What is your opinion?
