Do I have Asperger's

Hello, my name is Jon and I am a 21 year old male. For my whole life up to this point I have been different. In as early as kindergarten or 1st grade I was in special education classes. As soon as I started trying academically though, at about 16 years old, I began doing better. Now I am just about to get an associate's degree in General Studies from my local community college. With ...

Do Aspies like nature?

Hello. This is my first post. I'm just curious if the way I relate to nature is like Aspies do.

I zoom out because it is pleasurable, or comfortable. At times this can be good, such as when I'm doing my paid work, but usually it turns into a torture because I realize I'm wasting too much time and because I get so bored with my own repetitive thoughts. Best thing to get me "back ...

Manipulative/NPD ex

Hi,

I'm in a LDR with a guy with Aspergers. We had a big blow up recently with him having a meltdown when I discovered that the (overseas) female friend he often texts with is a married former lover that he didn't tell me about. We were eventually able to have a calm discussion about this and I got some info. She dumped him because she decided to stay with her husband but rather than ...

What is the difference between PDD-NOS and Asperger's?

Okay, so my doctors have diagnosed with all kinds of mental disorders by this point. I have schizotypal personality disorder with antisocial and borderline features, PDD-NOS, ADHD, depression, mild PTSD, pica, generalized anxiety disorder, and depersonalization disorder. The one that gets my brain lost in the dunes is the PDD-NOS diagnosis. Is it basically an even milder version of autism than Asperger's?

In laws staying over (anxiety)

Has anyone had this experience? Is it normal to feel extremely anxious and not want to come straight home after work?

Joking as a coping mechanism?

Does anyone else use joking as a coping mechanism in social situations with your significant other or family, and become uncomfortable when forced to be serious?

What about strategically creating a conversation about something unimportant to not give time for a potentially uncomfortable subject to be brought up? Almost as if your dodging an uncomfortable conversation while still maintaining the illusion that you're acting normal and happy (as opposed to physically leaving the room to ...

Is the Aspie Quiz accurate?

Is the Aspie Quiz at this website accurate http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php ? I got 174/200 for Aspie and 55/200 for non-autistic. Do you think that this would be accurate? I want to go and get a professional diagnosis. Should I bring the results of this quiz with me?

Books?

Does anyone else here really love books? I mean, really really love reading like 2-3 books on a good day if allowed by time? I even sold two books once but that was years ago and they were midlist and I haven't even told my old publisher my new general delivery address because what's the point? I'm a little tipsy now, living in a flophouse motel like Bukowski, but if anyone *mod edit* wants to ...

Rather be hated than rejected?

This may sound weird but have you ever reached a point where you were just tired of reaching out, always getting your hand slapped back or rejected so you decided to stop being nice and caring and just figured that you'd rather be hated than be rejected? I mean, at least if I don't even TRY to be nice and then people reject me, I can feel like I have some control over it. But ...

Curious, is this person an aspie?

Hi there!
I stumbled upon this online, and was curious if the person mentioned in this link sounds like he could be an Aspie, I know there are a lot of factors that make people behave a certain way, but given just this information, does anyone think the guy could be an aspie?
