can aspi's be shrinks

Is it legal, can they be refused for not having empathy (from schools). Do you think they (some, you) have the skillset to work in that feeld?

Hypo vs. Hypersensitivity (with a dash of average)

I'm curious about this. I know how my body responds to sensory input, but definitely not how you guys do. For me, sensations are variable. My sense of touch is hyperactive, pain is hypo, and I subconsciously turn off my own reflexes (leading to being diagnosed with severe nerve damage - a reflex test delivered with distractions showed perfect reflexive responses).

I know it might seem odd to be hypersensitive to touch but hypo regarding ...

birth control to delay menstration in a young teen

How do others in here feel about giving a girl with Asperger's birth control to stop menstration?

My daughter is 12. She is still so immature and is terrible with personal hygiene. I and my mother have tried so hard to instruct and guide her, but she is resistant.

I am worried, especially about what will happen in school if she has to deal with changing pads.

I appreciate any opinions, suggestions, ect.

The conforming tyranny

I have realized it:

You dont really need to feel any guilt, failure, defeat, feeling "immature", feeling "egocentric" and all others traits which can be found in AS.

Why?

Its not a choice, never was and never gonna be unless you live in future and decide to have AS before you are born.....

Conforming tyranny.

Dont stick out. Dont behave odd, dont say weird stuff. Have ...

Rejection :,(

I've just recently told a "good" friend that I have aspergers and then he didn't want to be my friend anymore because I didn't look at him while talking and found it hard to talk about his interest, then he said "nice knowing you" after I told him I have aspergers and not to take it personally, and he said don't BLAME it on it! :( I'm ...

Any other aspies hate this?

I have a girlfriend, and she likes to tease me by startling me and tickling me. I tell her how much I loath it but she doesn't listen. (Although I think she is starting to get it). I mean I DREAD that she is going to tickle me or jump out at me. I think she thinks it is cute, but I flip out and I get embarrassed too. Anyone else like this?

Styles and trends, ???

All my life I picked up whatever was "in" (even if I didn't care for how the clothes looked) I don't know of this is asperger related but I guess that the real question.

How many aspies find it difficult to find and understand styles? Is it just me or is it common to not know what's cool and what's not.

A friend thinks I may have Asperger's

I recently got treatment for social anxiety (finally something different than the bipolar label I dealt with for the past couple of years of antidepressants and anti-psychotics). I got prescribed Lamictal and Klonopin. So, I'll see how that goes. I don't know if I believe it's asperger's or any type of disorder. I really don't trust people anymore and it's just a crappy attitude of mind towards life and it's unfulfilling games. There's no bond ...

A company well suited for aspies skilled with computers

Hi

I just wanna tip you aspies about a potential job you might get if you live in the right country and also
fit the criterias for the company.

There are work to create such jobs which are specifically designed for aspies.
You search around. Think you can find a few and Specialisterne are one of them. Perhaps the biggest and best.

They recruit aspies who are good with computers. Many aspies seems to be ...

Hello!

Hi there! I just joined this forum and I don't really know where to begin....so I thought I'd start with a "hello." :-p

Let's see- I've had problems my whole life (who hasn't)? As a kid, I was the "weird, dorky" one; sometimes mistaken for a boy due to my awkwardness and haircut. I've always been bright but have had so much difficulty socializing that by the time I was in 3rd grade I tried ...
