hello---

i suppose the mods can kick me off now if they want. i used to post here as IsabelleII (i had a fascination with the movie 'mozart and the whale,' and although i have difficulty with the way some of the characters are represented, i really identify with Isabelle.) i didn't have any intention of sock-puppeting myself when i opened the new account. but i felt a certain brightness when i identified with Isabelle, and ...

Hello, I'm New!

I'm 17, Male, (undiagnosed Aspie).

I'm finding it hard to a job. It sucks when McDonalds wont even hire me. I'm awaiting a Sainsburys Email since I went for an interview there too, and having two close relatives working there should help, I hope. But it's like this: you have to have charisma when working for random people you probably don't know. You've gotta have a "smile" and all that. It pisses me off when ...

Initial consultation with psychiatrist

What exactly should I expect? Is there anything I should bring with me? Its only a 45 minute meeting so I'm assuming there won't be a diagnosis that quick.

Is Aspergers better than NT?

Years ago, I can recall speaking to devout Christians who did not believe in evolution and one justification was, "Well, why don't we see fish walking out of the sea? Why don't we see animals evolving right now?"

One obvious answer is: Hey, the average human height is taller than it was 1,000 years ago! Evolution in action even over a short period of time! Game over!

Well, apart from the fact that evolution is ...

What is wrong with me?

Okay. This is my first post here and I know its not really a positive one but I'm getting stressed and I feel I need to get it off my chest.

Anyway, I recently moved into a second floor flat so I'm now living alone (well with 2 cats). Sad thing is, I was sort of pushed into moving.
For the past few years I have been living in the family house and it was ...

Social retardation problems

So I've (finally) realized that my behavior is socially retarded. I had a lot of problems with anxiety the last year, and it took me many months to realize what's even my problem. I have been alone most my spare time, had no close friends, but I enjoyed being alone on the computer etc. Last fall I moved out to go to university, and that's when my life really started going to hell, I failed ...

When did you first learn of Asperger's?

An interesting thought crossed my mind...

I recall being somewhere in my later years in college, roughly in my early twenties and hearing the term "Asperger's Syndrome" for the first time. It hit me as an unfamiliar name that sounded like "asparagus" lol XD! When I first learned about how it was similar to autism, I had only a vague idea of what it entailed, and never realized how many similarities I would share with ...

No interests....

I know Aspies's typically have obsessive interests in one or two specific topics, but do you ever "get over" one interest and have a period of time where nothing interests you?

My daughter was obsessed with Webkinz for about 3 years. Her life revolved around them to the point that her teacher was begging her to write about something other than Webkinz in class. About a year ago, she just suddenly lost interest. It was ...

UK petition - Support for undiagnosed adults with Asperger's

Just found this petition whilst searching for some information on the direct.gov.uk website:

Support for undiagnosed adults with Asperger's Syndrome in the UK

Responsible department: Department of Health

We, the undersigned, call on the government to assess the lack of support for adults that believe they are suffering with undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome or their families.
