Narcissistic Wounds

What was yours? Go into as much detail as you are willing. Do you recall a point at which you suddenly "switched" into a narcissist? I am mostly interested in the purely subjective viewpoint of the narcissists I am questioning, and none of the emotionally spawned banter that usually arises in the form of sympathy.

Amazing on here... Narcissist alert! Defend yourself!

I find it interesting on this and other sites that the mentality of many contributors is reminiscent of the old vampire movies of the 50's and 60's, when crucifixes and sunlight would be utilized to keep the "evil undead" (us Narcissists) at bay, until Peter Cushing could apply the jolly old "stake to the heart".

We, as narcissists, are still worthy of hope and value...

Please don't give up on us, we suffer so and are our own worst enemies. We are not complete devils, we yearn to be happy and normal, and we have moments of awful realization amidst our hours of wickedness.

AvPD... or Avoidant due to Narcissistic traits?

For a while now, I've thought I had AvPD. Out of the DSM-IV-TR criteria, I'd self-evaluate myself with probably all 7, though not all to the same degree:

1. Avoids occupational activities that involve significant interpersonal contact, because of fears of criticism, disapproval, or rejection
2. Is unwilling to get involved with people unless certain of being liked
3. Shows restraint within intimate relationships because of the fear of being shamed or ridiculed or ...

Blog posts on the topic of narcissism

I came across these by accident (I wasn't looking for narcissism):

of course not entirely free from nonsense.

The concept of ...

Journal entry #1

I haven't been on this forum in quite some time, but lately I've been writing down some thoughts in a journal, and really wanted to share them with someone. I was going to talk about them with my therapist, but she is out of town this week, and due to various technicalities, I haven't been able to see her for the past few weeks. I'm also in a pretty lonely stage of my life, as ...

How to get rid of a Narcissist?

My mother in law is a big time narcissist. Her goal in life seems to be getting rid of me so she can get back her narcissistic supply (my husband).

It took me a couple of years to figure out exactly what was wrong with her. For awhile I thought maybe she had Borderline Personality Disorder, but then I realized it was definitely NPD. I think she also believes that *something* is wrong with her. ...

When does a narcissist reveal it's true identity?

When does a narcissist reveal it's true identity to it's partner?

In my experience with my ex she showed a few small signs when we were first going out but it wasn't until we went travelling a year into the relationship which was stressful at times when she started to become quite horrible. I do wonder if this could have been when she started to not fancy me.

According To The World, I'm Nothing But A Bitch

I thought someone here would beg to differ, but this disorder has its setbacks. I'm quite content having NPD on the contrary... but I'm also very unsure. I feel so apathetic to everything that doesn't affect me that I almost feel guilty; if someone dies, I only care whether or not they left me any money, if someone's sad, I really don't give a ###$ since it's not me, if someone's happy, I make them ...

"I love nobody..."

...but myself". These words written in text msg by my N friend, married, father of two small daughters. In another "I care about nobody."

It's so hard for me to get a handle on this concept.

NPDs, could you illuminate me please?
