Are gay men more likely to be true narcissists?

Ignoring our views on homosexuality for a moment, I was wondering what peoples' thoughts were on whether gay men were more likely to be diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

I must first say that I am not a health professional, but in my experience, many of the self-centred, perfectionist, boasting type traits inherent in NPD seem to be at the forefront in gay culture: the need to stay beautiful and young forever, body fascism, the ...

Is publicly embarassing a narcissist a good idea?

When around narcissists, have you ever called them on one of their pretentious lies? For example, they namedrop "I know the President of the US" when in reality they have just been at a cocktail party with him once, in a room of 100,000 people.

What's the usual result, and do they ever realize how ridiculous people actually think they are?

A Narcissist's REMORSE

We had a heated argument a few days ago.

I decided not to be a Narc Supply any longer. I need to cut myself lose from this. She took my own self defence, and repeated the same request: She wants to be "free". Let's finish this.

She is depended on me in many ways. She is not in a position to support herself, but I no longer wish to be the supply source.

She asked ...

When Superman asks for a glass of water

Yes, it feels like making the impossible possible all the time. I put myself to the outer limits of human endurance.
Success thrills me. It works for a while, but you can never rest, you must focus on providing the next NS, at all costs.

I am the modern Sisyphos, pushing a rock up on the mountain.

The struggle never ends, and you cannot rest, because stopping would double the weight of the huge rock, ...

me, of course

No therapy until after New Year. I miss my appointments. I like being the center of attention even if I have to pay for it. I enjoy the tea she gives me . she listens. she is pretty good at manipulating me. I trust her professionalism.

I paid for a haircut and a shave, and I trusted my face to a professional. It looks much better than when I used to cut it myself, and ...

Narcs and temper tantrums

I have a question for narcs and non-narcs relating to temper tantrums. My (ex) narc was a master at the 2-year old's variety of temper tantrum, except that he was smart enough to pick his setting (among strangers, in a store we usually didn't frequent, for example, so he didn't sully his reputation with people who knew him). His favourite was in a family setting, where I believe he felt he was most likely to ...

Answer to sum1

Winner's are always willing to do what loser's simply won't."

Why is it that Narcissists always consider themselves winners and, Non-N's are just there, to admire their amazing ability, to get away with anything?

The difference, perhaps, is that N's are willing to succeed, no matter what, even at others cost and demise. So, it is the LACK of empathy that puts non-Ns off, that is why they are complaining.

Ns are fully aware of ...
