Argument Patterns (with my possible HPD girlfriend?)

I stumbled across this site and I’ve got that feeling that all my current relationship troubles can now be explained. I’d love to hear other people’s opinions on my situation. It seems that she’s HPD but I guess no one can be sure and what this label means for either of us.

I’ve been seeing her for about 8 months now. The biggest problem has always been these arguments we have all the time, there ...

my family is struggling..I think my sister is HPD

I don't know where to begin. I just know that my sister has HPD even though she has never been diagnosed. I've noticed her dramatic behavior since childhood. She would over exaggerate headaches for attention and would get mad when she wouldn't get sympathy. In high school it got worse, everything would become a battle. I was of course caught up in it being the "responsible older sister". I would reach my breaking point though ...

Need Help

I realize I have tendicies of HPD. These are:

1-Craving for praise and approval.

2- Speak to please others.

3- Difficulty in doing anything where no immediate recongnition reward is there.

4- Quite fluid state of emontions which keep on changing. Same is the case with decisions making: make a decision and then revist it so frequently that most of the times simply change/reverse it.

5- Tendency to compare myself with others and feel jealousy. ...

Counseling

My wife, who I am seperated from, goes to her first counseling session today. She promises to point out her behavior patterns that have been so distructive to our marriage. This session is more a pre marriage counseling session than a session to see if she has issues.I would rather it be a session about her behavior patterns alone. We both go at the same time next week. I have spoken to one of the "so called ...

KontrollerX... thought you might like this.

http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/sanity_1.PdF

It's a free download of the book "The Mask of Insanity", written in the 40s.

It provides a pretty interesting history of the word psychopath, and some insight into why Personality Disorders aren't very well known to the public. The author (60 years ago) recognized that PDs cause more damage to people than, say, psychotics... but back then they technically had to be discharged as "sane".

In many ...

still trying to cope...

My younger sister exhibited symptoms of HPD for 4 years before she was treated. She went to an intense wilderness-style treatment program for about 2 years. She's at home now, and doing well, considering. During the third year of living with her, I went off to college. I didn't get to follow along in her treatment process like my parents did. The worst is behind me now, but I still worry about her a lot. ...
