In need of help and what works

I have pretty much read every post and reply on this forum and has really helped me out

However I have lost close to £100k this year on laying horses greyhounds anything that moves. Because the betting site gave me the option to be the bookmaker my logic was how many bookmakers are skint?

But with laying horses it got worse and worse and yesterday was the final straw I lost nearly £10k and was ...

'Does GA consider gambling to be a vice? No.'

The profoundness of this little piece from the GA FAQ hit me in the shower this morning. A vice implies something one holds onto as a crutch to get through life. As a problem gambler, I used gambling as an alternative to life.

Keeping your higher power with you?

So 2 weeks gambling free and thank goodness for that.

I just was wondering if I could get some feedback on a couple of things from anyone who has any insight. I'm focused largely on step two right now and when I have those moments where I can literally feel my brain surrendering to something else (usually most prominently after a meeting or a good conversation) and it's wonderful, but I struggle to keep it ...

Lottery scratchoff addiction - 24 year old

Hello everyone,

I am a single 24 year old male who has had a gambling addiction for almost year now. My addiction or game of choice was lottery scratchoff tickets. In the year I've been playing, I have accumulated about $13,000 in debt. In addition to this, I have about $15,000 debt in student loans from my undergraduate education and master degree program. I guess I am somewhat fortunate that my total debt including undergraduate ...

1,001 Days and my old posts

Somebody mentioned they went back over my old posts so I thought I would take a peek. Here is the last post I made before I started this recovery:

buster1969 wrote:If you have a good job you must be a smart, logical person. What worked for me was to look at my problem from a logical point of view. Did I feel satisfied when I won? No. Did I feel horrible when I lost? Yes. But ...

My story, first post - $20k gone.

Hello all,
I'm 34 years old, married and recently had a baby boy about 7 months old.

I have been gambling (or as some call it loosing) for about 15 years.
Started at university days and would be $20 or in pokies or like $100-200 blackjack at casinos.

Had my fair share of wins and losses. Maybe down all-together about $100-150K

I go through patches where i do not play for 3-9 months.
If i ...

I just feel like crying...

Hey all,

Apologies for the melodramatic title, but I don't think I've ever been more depressed in my life, and for me that is saying something. 8) Same old story. Ran online poker money up to $2,300 before throwing it back along with $1,000 of my own. I just don't understand why it can never be different. I always tell myself and am sure I will be ...
