What do you do for a living?

As the title goes. What do you do for a living? Why did you pick this specific job? How did you get it (qualification, training, degrees?)? What about it do you like/dislike?

If you are still a student (at university), what do you study? Why did you choose to study what you do? What job are you planning on doing later on? What about it do you like/dislike? Do you have a job besides studying? ...

Very heavy sleeper?

I go through these periods when I am a very, very light sleeper to nights when I can't be woken up by anything--not even the urge to pee, which sometimes results in me wetting the bed (I have since I was a child).

Anyway, some nights even a light rain can wake me, and on others my alarm clock doesn't phase me and I am late for school/work/life.

Is anybody else like this? I know ...

New to this board

My name is Jackie and I'm new to this board. I believe that my 9 yr old son has Asperger's. Lately dealing with behaviors has been emotionally draining.

A bit of background. My son is currently in 4th grade. He was diagnosed with ADHD and Tourette's syndrome the summer after 2nd grade. I was also told that while he doesn't quite have dyslexia, he does have a processing disorder when it comes to reading and ...

Should I tell my cousin he probably has AS?

Hello all,

My husband's cousin is 38. We see him once or twice a year for a week. We've never quite "understood" him. Then last year I made the connection between his behavior and Aspergers. I realized in most ways the behaviors seem to be typical of people with Aspergers. His one exception is that he is very physically fit and active. Anyhow, I am worried about him. He has 1 (kind of) friend and ...

Extreme distress, found out I don't have AS.

The psychologist says I don't have Asperger's or HFA or PDD-NOS or any of that.

Apparently these last couple years of my life were just one big fit of hypochondria. Fantastic... What's the point of going on this forum now? How do I explain ANY of the things I do that I previously attributed to AS?

Why do half the things I say make me seem impatient and angry when I'm not?
Why am I ...

popular pointless perception poll

Ah, welcome traveler. Midst the usual whiny rubbish people, including my good self, post here, I wish to offer a tiny moment of constructive self-contemplation.

In the poll above you should see four (4) different possibilities.

I shall explain the terms, which probably are not real:

optimism: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/optimist

optimist is someone who practices optimism.

pessimism: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pessimism?show=0&t=1325627763

pessimist etc.

Unrealistic optimist has unrealistically positive views of the world.

Cautious optimist is your basic optimist.

Realistic pessimist ...

Smells are a big deal, how about for you?

Hey guys, since a little kid I would get terribly irritated, anxious and even raging angry if there was some particular smell around.
For example when I was like 2-5 years old, I could eat and be ok with the smell of popcorn but I don't have a clue what happened, when I was about seven I freaked out at some kids party because of it and occasionally it was impossible to get me to ...
