Hello

I am the oldest son of three. My mother punished me excessively when I was quite young. I never realised she was wrong in doing it till my father was home once and stopped her, and said something to her about getting her help. She was strict, and I remember her mother being excessively strict. The sought of strict that instills real fear.

At less than 10 I remember turning the way the toilet paper ...

Doing Nothing

Hi all,
I am a self-diagnosed OCPDer and I know from long ago that I have depression. (anybody know anything about the difference between saying someone is depressed and has Depressive Personality Disorder?) My main problem right now is doing nothing, absolutely nothing. I don't know if this comes from OCPD, Depression, or just plain laziness. I find I can't do the simplest things; it's really embarassing and I only end up feeling worse about ...

I don't know if I have OCPD

I scored above 70 on the Cammer's Test but i haven't gone to a psychologist..

I used to hoard trash when I was 6 but I was able to overcome it. It stopped for a couple of years but it seems to come back again.

I get upset when my bag is unruly and my notebooks should have proper arrangement according to subject. I usually get upset when the notebook cover is destroyed/ folded or ...

OCPD & Controlling Behavion/I'm a NEWBIE!!

I am 27 and i have suffered from mood disorders and anxiety since I was a teenager. Recently I went to a psychiatrist that actually talked to me instead of sending me on my way with a prescription. In my last relationship I was very controlling, judgemental and it was like "my way or the highway", to name a few. I thought i was "fixed" after getting on celexa but I am in a new ...

Very sad, obsessive thoughts

I have mild OCD and depression. Among other things that happen with my disorders, I have been getting really bad, thoughts in my head. If I watch any show that is REMOTELY sad (parts most people wouldn't feel sad about), I will cry. If I see someone get in an accident in a movie and die, I instantly picture that it is a family member and it is them who's dying. Even when I'm not ...

OCPD, the mental and physical ebb and flow

I am only fairly new in the world of OCPD and was wondering if any fellow sufferers experienced a variety of physical and emotional mood swings and if they were constantly up and down as if riding a roller coaster.

I keep having really good days and then suddenly something minor will trigger a massive shift and I was wondering if this was something typical of OCPD because I have a feeling there is something ...

OCPD Friend and Getting Rid of Stuff: Ideas?

We are dear friends with our neighbors. The husband of that couple has many of the symptoms of OCPD, including feeling unable to part with possessions. At the same time, being surrounded by all the accumulated stuff is creating anxiety and financial hardship for them--their children are grown and they need to sell their home and move to a less expensive one, but can't think about selling the overstuffed house.

He does not trust doctors ...

Just Diagnosed

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums. I've just been diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. Most of my problems revolve around cleanliness, my looks, orders and list making. I compulsively make lists even about the smallest things. Sometimes I make mental lists & order my thoughts. It's strange really. I didn't go the therapist specifically about this problem. I went because I was getting depressed and isolating myself. My therapist picked up on my severe ...
