Break-up advice

I am pretty certain that my partner has some strong signs of OCPD, although of course I am no expert and he has not suggested such a thing. Other related 'symptoms' that he displays are long bouts of melancholy, anxiety, eating disorder and alcoholism. He has very clear coping strategies for his anxiety (his sport is his obsession) and i think he manages his melancholy by a) drinking and b) surrounding himself with very positive ...

OCPD, PPD, depression(which one): my husband

I'm so tired of researching my husband's symptoms. He seems to fit one place but not another yet in some ways he fits another disorder, LOL! We've been married 15 years and I feel that he's gotten worse. He had ADHD as a child and possibly other things but never diagnosed, including OCD. We have an 11 yr old son who has a tic disorder (possibly Tourette's) and anxiety issues, as well. My father in ...

I need advice

2 months ago my daughter and I arrived at my sister's house. We have since been living with my sister and her husband. I started noticing some behaviors that bothered me. My sister's husband is very controlling and manipulative. He has all these schedules and routines and if his plans are not followed he gets has anger outbursts and we noticed some kind of tic or grimace like his neck and head moves sideways when ...

OCPD - Another Spouse Sufferer

Greetings,

Well, I have plenty to share, but how about a little levity first. I wrote a brief short story that parallels one of the issues I have faced in the past. I think I wrote it to resolve some inner turmoil. I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Maybe I'll share it with the wife to get her reaction. Then again... maybe not. Well, here it is for your reading pleasure.

One Day, ...

Does this sound like OCPD?

It looks like this forum is pretty dead, but I'm hoping someone will see my post and respond...

I'm a 21 year old female, just completed my B.A. (finished with a 4.0) and have just begun a writing-intensive Master's program (for which I have a full scholarship) in a field that I love. My academic strengths include language-acquisition (I can read and/or speak six languages, and am attempting to add two more this next year) ...

Hi and help!

I left my husband 6 months ago. We were together for 14 years and have 7 children.
I am a psychologist myself and have finally reached the conclusion that my ex husband has OCPD.
He went to see an CBT therapist for 6 sessions for anxiety, stress and depression issues and now perceives all is well.

He has very strict beliefs including especially how people dress, social behaviour etc
He has few friends and would ...

Frustrated with myself

I'm so frustrated with myself. I've been lazy all day now. I have a billion things that I have to do. I can't get myself to just DO them. I can't. I keep walking in circles. Weaving back and forth. I've tried to make myself just sit down and make a plan of action. My body won't respond. Just now I finally got myself to sit down with my To Do List and at least ...

Relationship getting serious; need advice, please.

Hi My name is Marie and I've been dating a guy for 8 months now. Our relationship is getting serious and we have talked about the possibility of getting engaged in the not too distant future. I recently talked to a friend that has OCPD and after hearing her talk about her issues/diagnosis, I suspect that he has OCPD. Although I'm not 100% sure (he has not had a diagnosis from a professional), my boyfriend ...

Religious Indecision / Anguish

Hello,

I am still not certain whether I have OCD or OCPD, or some kind of blending of the 2, but basically (in addition to other issues) I have been locked into a kind of indecision regarding 2 religions for 10 years +, and I spend hours and hours ruminating about it! I have spent close to 25 years researching religion, and decided I really like Buddhism because it makes sense, and I really like ...

DSM-5 on OCPD being finalized please participate

It's online at http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRe…..px?rid=22# and I am not sure I am happy with the changes they want to make to OCPD. For one thing, they are proposing eliminating it as a separate Personality disorder and plan to include it as part of OCD.

They're also saying "For the most part, strong emotions – both positive (e.g., love) and negative (e.g., anger) – are not consciously experienced or expressed."

From ...
