My ex narc put on a real good front when he would experience narcissistic rage. However, when I said that "I hated him" in the heat of the moment, later he would come back and said it really bothered him. I have tried to analyze and dissect NPD and in most of my analyzing I contrasted covert NPD and overt NPD. Covert NPD is an unofficial label, a somewhat elusive label and also has other similar variants like shy narcissism, codependent narcissism, inverted narcissism.
