Mood forecasting

Are you able to forecast your moods with any success? I'm looking at my mood graphs for the last six months and not seeing any patterns. But maybe statistically, I could figure out that if this is the shape of the jaggy line lately and this is what day of the week it is, and here's how much sleep I've had, there's a 70% chance of hypomania tomorrow.

I'll know when to put off washing ...

Paradoxical reactions

I haven't ever had paradoxical reactions to medicines of any sort before, at least as far as I can recall. I'm wondering if this is along the same lines though. I drastically cut my sugar and caffeine consumption and the last few days I've been as hyper as I've been in a long time. This afternoon, I had a really sugary caffeine loaded drink and promptly fell asleep. I don't feel anywhere near as hyper ...

Second and last session for now

My counselor agrees cyclothymic disorder is an appropriate assessment. I've spent all my adult life developing little coping mechanisms without realizing it's all part of the same ball of wax. He's recommended a few lifestyle changes, some I'm already working on like more exercise. I'm not going to like not listening to fast tempo music on the up days. No more Sirius XM Strobe channel when I feel like hearing it because it just winds ...

The long journey of medications

Hi all!
There was a thread started by someone in the BP forum about BP meds and the trials and errors with those. I thought I would start a thread here, beginning with a cut/paste of what I posted in the BP forum so that loved ones of cyclothymics could get a glimpse of what a medicinal journey looks like, and my fellow cyclo's could post their own medicinal journeys to share what's worked and ...

Female Hormones & Cyclothymia

Hello all!
My apologies for having been silent in the forum for so long. Have been keeping up on my reading in the forum, but not had time to post replies because I'm taking classes and that eats a lot of my "clear thinking" time :(

Have a question for you all, as I'm really struggling atm and can't figure out if it is just "me" or ...

Metabolism tests

I had a physical today, as recommended by my counselor. I'll be getting a blood test in a few days. I should even have the results in short order, before my next counseling session. The blood test order has the word cyclothymic in a couple places where thyroid stimulating hormone and comprehensive metabolic are circled. I'm not sure if that means they'll do an extra test or two or if that's so the doctor remembers ...

My first session done

I saw a counselor today. That was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. He thinks cyclothymia is a possibility. He wants me to keep doing a mood journal and add some items to it about what I eat, when I sleep, and notes about how the day goes. He also suggested I get a physical. No surprise there. I've been putting that off for a long time. He doesn't think ...

Mood graphing

I've been doing my own mood chart for the last six months. Last night I put all the numbers into a spread sheet and then turned the data into graphs. I've been more aware of my mood changes from day to day since I started, so I didn't expect anything like a nice neat sine wave. I expected something more like a sine wave interfered with by a smaller wave. What I got is rather ...
