A Slight Obsession

I'm a 17 year old girl with Asperger's Syndrome who has only just been diagnosed about 5 months ago. I tend to have slight... Obsessions...

And of course, this is normal and expected for Aspies, right? .. Right... But the problem is, I don't just become obsessed with hobbies or objects, I become obsessed with people. It's almost as if I want to be them. I want to be around them all the time, I ...

Trouble finding objects.

Not sure if this is something that's part of AS or just a personal quirk, but I can not see things I'm looking for, even if they're right in front of me in plain sight. I'll spend half an hour looking through the pantry for something even if it's in the front. I lose papers all the time and somehow, even when I flip past them, I don't realize it. I wouldn't mind it so ...

Getting him to respect my things

Hi there. About a month ago I made a thread here about my nephew. I'm back with another topic... getting him to respect my things or... I don't know... how to handle or approach the situation.

He is 10 years old and has Aspergers and ADHD.

I'm in a situation where I often go away for a couple days. The first couple of times I went away, he hadn't yet been diagnosed so I sought ...

Just wanted to say goodbye

I was a real pleasure to get know everyone, i had a good feeling of satisfaction i sometimes made a difference. I will miss you all of you, even the Ape.

Unfortunately a second breach of trust has taken place with staff which makes it impossible for me to continue my volunteer duties as anything on this site.

I wish you all the very very best and hope you sometimes remember me fondly. Maybe we'll ...

Completing projects

I'm writing a business plan at the moment (with this business start-up support thing in my area), and I need some advice/opinions.

I've been signed up to this for about 18 months, not been able to finish the plan, it can be like torture. Always had this problem through school with homework, and any sort of project really.

Got some new ideas for 2012, and the business plan is going OK so far but I'm ...

Are apps the key to revolutionising autism learning?

I don't know if this really applies to Aspergers or not, but parents of young children might find it helpful. The moderators can move this to the regular autism section instead too if that's more appropriate. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16534678

Excerpt: "Technology has completely and utterly changed Veronica's life.

"She has gone from being a little girl who had no way of showing us how much she knew, to a little ...

Aspergers, Social Anxiety, Avoidant Personality, HSP?

Btw- HSP means highly sensitive person. I think the traits for all those conditions overlap so much that a person who scores high on one will likely score high on the other. How can we tell these apart? (Personally, I don't feel anxious in social situations but I will score high on the tests for that anyway.)

Another one just came to mind. A person who was abused and learned to disassociate as a coping ...

House broken into, stuff stolen; I'm too trusting...

I've been spending the week with my parents at their house while my place is being renovated...My brother is 16 and does all kinds of drugs and lies and steals. In the car he got angry at me mom and said "stuff of yours is going to go missing", so when I walked in the door to find MY ps3 stolen, I instantly blamed him and confronted him about it. He insisted he didn't do ...

People piss me off

Any kind of communication has always been a problem for me. When I heard about Asperger, it all, including my other weirdnesses, made sense.
As a musician, I feel that communication with people is very imporant.
So, I have a project. It includes 5 people. All of them are good friends of mine. I like them all as persons. But during making that project, they piss me off. Not with things they do, but just ...

Registering autistic children with the police: A strategic idea?

Excerpt: "A new Canadian program is supposed to help officers defuse confrontations using sensitivity rather than force. But what about privacy?

Recently, the Canadian city of Ottawa formally and permanently adopted a voluntary autism registry, so parents can let police know of a child's diagnosis in case of trouble. Is this a logical way to help officers ...
