Today marks my 6 month anniversary and I am proud to say I am on to the next 6 months!
I have spent the last 6 months redirecting the way I both spend my money and occupy my time.
...so as of now, it's on to the year mark!

Tomorrow I will be one month Gamble Free .

Tomorrow I get paid.

The wagons are circled . The troops are armed . I'm cautiously optimistic and nervous as Hell at the same time .

It will be a month's wages . It's a big chunk of cash and I will be at the bank when the doors open . I have a plan . I have determination . I have hope .

first time posting on the forum, pretty standard though as i've hit rock bottom and now i've decided i need help (why are gamblers always that way?)

I've probably lost around 20k in 3 months and have now reached beyond the point of being able to disguise my losses or at least function as a regular member of society.

tonight i lost the remains of what was enabling me to keep my head above water. ...

I am 25, I work hard, I am saving for a house with my girlfriend, all looks alright from the outside but I feel like I'm out of my depth.

In the past 6 months since I first started posting on this site, I'm happy to say that I've made some positive progress towards kicking this miserable, destructive habit.

I've been strong enough to take some time away from it, going as long as 3 months at a time completely sports-gambling free, feeling repulsed by the thought of ever regressing back to my stressed-out, moody, manic state.

So i wont go into too much detail as im trying to get first guy ive known since childhood to take a look at this forum and start participating,i ve seen him in passing several times in last decade ,but shared a beer together a few weeks back and turns out he shares the same problem ,had a good chat about it ,says he almost lost his wife and was in real danger of losing ...

Does anyone else find that the longer they get away from gambling the harder it is to spend money on stuff?

I don't know if it's because my mind is clearer the longer I go and I realize how much I wasted, and I feel I have to make up for it, but the more the weeks gambling free go by, the harder I find it to spend money on anything that isn't a necessity ...

So first I'm 142 days clean. But this time of year is such a struggle for me. The lump sum is always so tempting....anyone else have this issue?

After a month away from the site I've returned with a couple of posts to update my progress more for my own benefit. Having said that it's nice when you receive words of encouragment from others on the same path of recovery. Usually this will be limited to one or two comments from well-wishers,which is fine i get that some people don't want to comment.
