Bye bye

I have been on this forum for 4 days now and it has helped me tremendously to turn a corner. BUT it makes me constantly think about gambling so I've decided to leave. How can you stop the addiction when you are constantly talking about it? Move on, do something else and stop living in the past. The book by Allen Carr recommended by someone on this blog easy ways to stop gambling - down ...

Gambling "fog" and FOBT's continue to wreck lives

Another story which I'm sure many of us can relate to. It's clear that bookmakers and casinos are not doing enough to help those with a gambling addiction. How can anyone possibly think that this whole pastime can be fun exactly? Gambling not only leaves the gambler penniless it strips them of everything else.

My Own choice

At nearly 5 months gambling free. I smile every time I think that it is my own choice to keep my money instead of letting the online gaming industry take it away from me. Credit card balances are slowly falling, savings is slowly growing. I knew I would not be suddenly rich by chosing to not gamble, but I not only stopped the slide,, I turned it around and headed the other way. My own ...

MY BROTHER WON 140,000 DOLLARS

I have been gambling now for about 2 years. I've lost about 50,000 dollars, and it makes me sick to think of it. I've tried stopping, cutting down, budgeting it in as "entertainment"- and none of that stopped me from losing so much money.

My brother is also a gambling addict. Last year his wife threatened to divorce him if he didn't stop, and he was not allowed to have any cash. It seemed like ...

Online casinos/bookies and the withdrawal reversal

I recall (and assume they still operate this way) that online casinos/bookies tend to allow a player to reverse a pending withdrawal, sometimes a number of days after their initial withdrawal request.

I know that I was often tempted and would sometimes succumb to reversing a withdrawal (thinking, no praying that my luck would change) and invariably lost the whole lot plus threw even more money away trying to chase it back.

My point for ...

Roulette wheel numbers add up to 666; says it all!

My downfall in my dark days of gambling was roulette. I thought I could beat online casinos, convinced that "seed numbers" generated a pattern of numbers, not randomness. I learnt the hard way and will pay the financial price of this for the next few years. 6 months on I'm fine with this, I still have my family, my home and my job. These were close to being next to be staked once I had ...

What if you could win it all back?

If you were assured you could win all of your losses back would you do it? I don't mean on one spin of the wheel but over time? Like if you had to go to the casino four or five days a week and chip away at it, would you?

The reason I ask this is because it seems to me that if we just stop gambling and worry about working we'll be GUARANTEED to ...

This is the end

Can't believe I'm typing this but if I get it down in black and white and can read it back at any time maybe this really will be the end of the hell I've created for myself.

I've been gambling online slots now on and off for about 12 years. Some winnings but far far more losings. Don't want to think how much I have blown over this time but it's serious money. I want ...

Checking in - 6 months clean

Hi everyone,

Not been on here for a while but managing to stay clean, rebuild my finances and my life. 6 months on from my decision that enough was enough and life is getting better all the time.

There seems to be a common thread and it's since I kicked the ugly habit that everything else is falling into place. My work performance is much better, my relationships with others far stronger and I feel ...
