I'm confused about myself

Hello. I joined your forum today so that I could chat with people who have a similar experience to me. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5, after getting in fights with kids and teachers alike, and was transferred a therapeutic school. I was there for most of 1st and 2nd grade. When I was 7, my dad was in the hospital after 9 months of a cycle of going to the hospital, ...

That little bad feeling in your chest..

Hi everyone,

its one of those times again. Woke at 3am this morning with that feeling - as if someone's been squeezing my heart out - which spiraled into me thinking about all my failures.
Fell asleep eventually but most of the day today hasn't been any better, my mind keeps wandering back to failed relationships, mistakes I think I've made, things which might not work out the way I expect, fear that I'll be ...

How do we define a 'mental abnormality'?

Are mental abnormalities chiefly defined by the extreme deviation from the majority of shared behaviours, traits, structure, emotions? etc. and is it still considered an abnormality if the majority of the population have share these?

Therapist update

Hi to All
I saw my new Therapist yesterday. I general came away with zero feelings good or bad. Basically a greet and meet. We told him straight out from the get go to figure out if he was up to the task at hand. Gave him a brief outline of the trauma and issues and told him we were not there to validate ourselves with him he could listen and get with the program ...

High level Autism or something else?

Hi phone - First, I want to apologize if this is not the correct forum to post this. But I was not sure where else to start.

I have a brother-in-law with "Problems". I say it that way because the parents have never gotten him tested. He is my wife's brother and she does not want to be around him if at all possible.

Let me give you some examples:

He was living at his ...

My Therapy Ended, My Husband's Began Today.....

Those of you who have been following my story will know that I recently finished a year's therapy and now score low on a Personality Disorder Scale. I have traits, but these are a part of the Dramatic Personality Style, and not in themselves an indication of disordered behaviour. I have noticed a change in the way I now post here - it is usually to offer support to a non or a disordered person ...

Hiya Peeps!

I just wanted to say a quick hello and to let you know I'm still around. Sorry I've been a bit quieter than usual lately, I've been going through some tough stuff and struggling a bit. I am usually terrible at replying to my threads here, so my apologies for that also. I always appreciate reading what you guys write.

Anyways I just wanted to check in and say hi. And that if any of ...

Do you have a particular subject you like to talk about?

I know that's one of the Aspie traits, but I am not like that...I like to talk about EVERYHING. If I know something, I have to tell somebody (somebody being my family, because I don't like a lot to other people...) I like to talk about aliens the most, though, and it gets on people's nerves sometimes...I talk about things I don't even know! I make up facts (I guess because my mom is so ...
