Need Support

Postby MakersDozn » Fri Sep 04, 2015 3:43 pm

We have been struggling with difficult feelings, isolation, and loss for some time. We do not self-harm, but we remain stuck in a dark place.

Words of support would be very much appreciated. No cyberhugs or terms of endearment, please. Thank you.

Hi MDs. Sorry to hear that you've been in a dark place, but I'm sure things will get better. We've been struggling a bit because of Viola's anxiety about school but the only thing you can do is to take it one step at a time. Hope this helps.

Thanks. We understand school-related anxiety and remember it well, even though we graduated from college over 30 years ago. Time sometimes has a different meaning for folks like us.

We hope that things go well for you at school.

MDs,

You are not alone in your struggle. Support in ourselves, get out of that dark place.

We read you and in some way we hope to hold you.

As Im-pure says no bad thing last for ever.

MDs,

It is brave to ask for support. I like what Im-pure said. I wish I could relieve this burden for you, but since I can't, just know that I see you. i'm glad you're here and that you keep trying.

Hi all,

Thank you, everyone, for responding. And Nondescript, it's good to see you again.

I (Charity) had a long talk inside with Mary last night. For a while, I wasn't in a place to listen to anyone, even Mary, and she's my closest friend on the inside. But I was ready to listen last night. I don't know why, but I'm glad that I listened. She has a way of reframing things in a way that's very helpful.

The pain is still there and will be for quite some time. But the next time we go to T, I'll mention what Mary and I talked about. I hope that we can keep the momentum going.

My immediate goal is to find a way to stop vacillating between being receptive to healing and being resistant to help and support. This is not easy. Fear is a big motivator to stay frozen.

I'd like to keep talking to people here. It helps me/us to avoid isolating.

Hi Charity,

Sorry you're in pain. Sometimes it's hard for us to let someone help too. We get all protective about things and not always in good ways. It's hard to remember we don't live in the bad times anymore. We keep acting like it's going to happen again. But it's not. We're just scared. Our T says to find the person inside who's least scared to help the person who's most scared.

Good luck.
