Could anybody help me out? I'm sure this could help a lot of new members interested in the disorder.
How I imagine it being said is "Skit-zoid", as in schizophrenia. Is this correct?
Thanks

The only time that I have ever heard it said out loud was by a psychologist who pronounced it skee-zoid.

King Crimson, who I consider to be the more reputable authorities, pronounces it
skit'-zoid

That's the way I pronounce it in my head as well as it seems to make more sense: skit-zo-fre-knee-a, skit-zo-ty-pel, skit-zoid. As I recall, when the same question was asked on the yahoo mailing list the responses were mixed between skee-zoid and skit-zoid.

Hopefully you laughed in his/her face.

My psychology professor pronounced it skee-zoid... I still think that skit-zoid makes more sense though.

C'mon, there is so little difference between skee-zoid and skit-zoid. If you talk a little inarticulate, one wouldn't notice a difference.
Meh, at least there's no doubt how to pronounce it in german
Btw, I would go for skit-zoid

Why don't we all just use the German pronunciation then?

To be honest that's how I pronouced it before I saw the resemblence with "Schizophrenia".
