Don't you pronounce "schizoid" and the first part of "schizoidalne" the same way in polish?
Does "schizoid" in polish sound like "schizoid" in german? ("S-he-zoid" sounds like german)

dictionary.com says it's pronounced "skit-soid" and that's how I've always pronounced it.

Heh... I say skitzofrenia, but for some reason I say sk-iz-oyd. (iz as in quiz) I guess the most common pronunciation is with an invisible 't'. 'skizoyd' flows much smoother than 'skitzoyd' in my opinion.

I also pronounce it sk-iz-oyd. Schiz like schism, which is where the word comes from.. dictionary says Skit-zoid, but eh, I still prefer pronouncing it sk-iz-oyd. The t is a bit awkard for me.

Well, I'm not sure about German pronounciation, I never learned German.
I'm self diagnosed with a very severe and incurable case of "being Sabratha".

When pronoucing it I usually pronounce it she-so-id as that's the Norwegian way of saying it. It did occur to me afterwards that the schizperger pun didn't actually work in English with the Skeetsoid/skee-zoid pronounciation.
And the American Heritage dictionary gives the pronounciation as skit'soid for whatever that's worth.

This should teach me to read the whole thread before answering, but somehow I doubt that it will.

My dictionary says the prefix comes from the Greek word "skhizein" which means to split, so perhaps the definitive answer lies with how the Greeks pronounce "skhiz" or "schiz".

That's how my psychiatrist pronounces it.
