I am not agree with Doctors it is psychological disorder.

I think it is just genetic mutation . I am perfect in math and other subjects. I am perfectionist. I don't see myself as a stressed out or depressed person. I just think it is
a DNA . I suffer from it 26 years . Doctors should not put diagnoses if they don't know what it is .they think it is a mental illness . Just an opinion lol Doctors used to classify same sex ...

It's officially much more then pulling... :(

When I was in grade 3 I believe is when I first started to pull my hair out.
When I hit grade 4, I started pulling out alot more, and this is when I really noticed it. I had pure bald spots on the top of my head, they where very small, but they where noticeable, and they where completely bald. I always wore bandanas to school, because I was embarrassed by my bald spots. ...

My Story- Eyelash and Eyebrow Puller

I just wanted to share my story on here- I haven't been diagnosed as suffering with Trichotillomania, but having really researched it seems a high possibility- this scares me somewhat but it's also reassuring to know I'm not alone.

I'm female, almost 20, and have been picking at my eyelashes and eyebrows for the past 3 years- this seemed to begin not long after I started my A Levels which I found to be pretty ...

Revealing my Trich to New Boyfriend

I have recently started dating a new man. I really, really like him but I am afraid about revealing my Trich to him.

It's only been about 3 months, and I don't plan on revealing it to him soon, but I see a future for us so it's inevitable that I will tell him eventually. I've never told any man except my ex with whom I wasn't in love with so I wasn't afraid if ...

Follicles

Is anybody else obsessed with the hair follicles when you pull?
I pull specifically from spots on my scalp as there seems to be more follicles there.
I get such a rush when I pull the follicles out - the juicy, thick gel-like roots on hairs.
I only pull in search for those ones because they are the most satisfying...
I don't eat them but I just pick the follicle root off the strand of ...

I can't stop pulling my hair out

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this but I've suffered with trichotillomania since I was 9. I'm 21 now. I did pull my eyelashes and eyebrows out up until I was 19 (on and off) and then it transferred over to my hair, which has been much more severe. Can anyone explain why/how my addiction changed from eyelashes and eyebrows to the hair on my scalp? It is a much bigger problem and has caused great ...

Discovery is Scary

I have been pulling the hair out of my body for 7 years, beginning when I was going through puberty. I didn't think this was a real "problem" because it didn't seem like an addiction or something detrimental so I just ignored it. Last night I convinced myself to look up my actions online to see if other people did the same thing and I never expected to find a community of people with the ...

Would it be dumb to try wearing a hijab?

I've hit a rough spot and it's gotten worse in the last couple months.I have a hard time not pulling my hair out when I can touch it. It distracts me when I'm trying to do homework and concentrate in class or talk to friends and just get around normal life. I was thinking if I wore a hijab it would make it easier on me because it would put a lot of effort between ...

Overcoming Picking/Plucking

As a teenager I used to pick at my skin on my arms and shoulders and never thought much about it. The urge would come and go but was never very strong. As an adult, my skin disaster started a few years ago when I started using an epilator. This led to ingrown hairs and an endless and very satisfying cycle of picking and plucking at hair and bumps on my legs. My legs became ...
