I'm a medical doctor who is bringing the work I do in my office out to people online.

One of the issues people have come to be about over the years is sleeping problems.

I advised my patients to take sleeping pills in a particular way, to get the most benefit, with the least cost, AND without risk of becoming addicted to them.

If you are thinking about taking sleeping pills or you are already ...

I need to write a research paper about Biopsychology. Since sleep is part of Biopsychology I was thinking somewhere in the lines of Ambien. What do you experts think about should Ambien be legalized? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Insomnia as a Mind-Body Disorder

In my clinical and research experience, I have been surprised how often chronic insomnia is linked to physical sleep problems. In particular, we have found that many insomniacs suffer from sleep-disordered breathing. The biggest surprise, though, is how often insomniacs believe their sleep problems are only due to mental or psychological factors or due to some chemical imbalances in the brain.

Permanent damage after 6 months of circadian shift?

I vaguely remember reading in a psychology textbook that if a human works the graveyard shift for more than 6 months, their circadian rhythm is permanently damaged.

Is this true? I haven't read that anywhere else. I have been searching the internet but I haven't come across that.

I have read an article saying the opposite: That if you are an "owl" or a "lark", you can't change what you are.

The reason why I ...

Eye Tremors?

First off, I don't have full on, damaging my life, insomnia. But sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep and If I wait too long I will get my second wind and stay up until 3-6 in the am.

I was just wondering if anybody had experienced eye-tremors from lack of sleep? Is this my body saying "I need some REM right now?"

I only get this when I'm really tired, sometimes when I get ...

Please Help

I was diagnosed with depression a few months back. But as far as I can remember I've had trouble sleeping. My mother told me that I have never been a good sleeper even as a small child. I am now 19 and I can't cope with being miserable and tired all day. It's also taking a toll on my physical wellbeing. I am not currently seeking therapy for my depression (and I know I should ...
