Growing up in an abusive home, I learned quickly that it didn't matter if you behaved good nor bad, you'll be beaten either way. Instead, what mattered, was pleasing my NM ego at all costs. Dated for 4 years, known him for 10. Been broken up since the end of May. He vanished and never contacted me again once I calmly confronted him about his affair (which he was certainly not going to great lengths to hide). He has not been personally diagnosed by a MD, but my psychiatrist has diagnosed him as having NPD based off my extensive descriptions of his actions.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about my role in the N discard. I know it was inevitable, whether it was today, a year from now or 5 years from now. Since my ex was a masterful covert N, it's taken me a few months to put together the pieces, remove most of my self doubt and to see her for who she was.

My idea is yes, narc are IMO more represented among the successful than general population.

When an NPD person wants something from another person, why don't they just ASK?

I can think of these 2 scenarios, but there are many more.

1/ My NPD mum wanted to be included in my life more (more attention/revolve around her I guess) so she would blackmail, imply, insult me, bait me... but never just ASK to spend time together.

2/ NPD guy would want me to come and meet him for "romantic" (cough) ...

How does a narcissist view family life :?:

I believe narcissism is something a person is born with. Like it is thought psychopaths are born rather than made.

If I notice a person (at least going roughly by their actions) seems willing to treat women who agree they are only interested in them for sex with at least a reasonable amount of respect. (also potentially some women they have never slept with.)

i.e. the women who are interacting in sexual ways with certain boundaries, e.g. professional and potentially not actually having full sex with the person are not the ones they appear to ...
