I'm new to this board; but have been depressed all my adult life. A few years ago I had a total breakdown and was diagnosed with GAD/SAD with Panic Attacks. After just coming across AvPD a couple days ago, I'm now 99% sure I'm an avoidant. Like the subject heading saids, is AvPD well know about in Australia mental health community?

I can say I haven't hear of it until a couple of days ago.

I have had an odd problem about personal hygiene. I don't shower often enough, don't shave or keep myself groomed, I wear dirty clothes, etc. My therapist said she can't help but think this is similar to other situations where people deliberately try to make themselves ugly, often to prevent the possibility of other people being interested in them.
