"Acting Out"

How often do any of you have problems (or your children) with "acting out" from boredom. Sometimes I feel so bored (of course) and it starts to grow and nothing can fix it, none of the usually things. ACtually the usually things are horribly boring themselves and then I just start to kind of rage. I act out because I'm frustrated from the boredom and it needs allievation.

I think boredom is a serious issue ...

Another Issue

First off, please excuse any ignorant statements I make here.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD Type A Inattentive, or rather, I'm fairly sure that's what I was told.

I began taking Vyvanse as well as a pill to supplement my hunger (I am rather underweight, and so the doctor was worried). The second pill is Cyproheptadine.

I have always suffered from tics of sort, constantly needing to be touching or moving something, otherwise I ...

ADHD? Bipolar? Or both?

Hi-

My 15 year old daughter is currently being treated by a psychiatrist who believes she is bipolar. I have asked him if this could be ADHD (she had psycho-educational testing and the result was "atypical" ADHD. She did not neatly fit the profile, and the tester did not know what to call it. The results also showed poor organizational functioning and high levels of anxiety and potential for depression). The psychiatrist said he believes ...

Want to be taken seriously

I have heard ADHD and ADD are underdiagnosed in women. I think I might have ADHD and here is why:

-never paid attention in school, got by because I was 'gifted and talented' and could pull sh*t together at the last moment
-dropped out of high school at 16 when I couldn't pull sh*t together at the last moment anymore
-constantly fidget in meetings and forget 90% of the content
-finally finishing my associates degree, ...

Odd Associations

Oh does anyone else make odd associations? Like I smelt I think it was cigarettes but I kept thinking it smelled like toast. and for some reason I think these Twizzlers havea fingernaily polsihy taste to them. I also don't like my real name Kayla and say it makes me think of Tulips whereas Joan, the name I like makes me think of deep earth or of steel. Most people say 'oh Kayla is a ...

Something You Forgot Or Did

Tell me something you did either today or this week like forgetting something..or not..paying attention to something...or something of that sort.

Yesterday I thought I handed the lady a 20 at the store and she insisted I only handed her a 10. She was going to open the register and everything so I came home and my mom took the 5 change..Obviously it was a 10. I saw a 20 darn it!

I was standing ...

ADD Adult Struggling with OCPD Mother, Help!

Hi,

I am a 30 something female and have have ADD. I didn't get a diagnosis until high school and was in denial about it until my late 20's. I sort of fell through the cracks (especially as a young girl without the trademark hyperactivity) and struggled a great deal.

Just recently I've realized my mother is definitely OCPD. I'm suspecting her disorder really conflicted with my disorder. I felt like I could never do ...

Need some direction...

I'm not really sure if this is the right spot to post this, but ADHD is the one thing my daughter has been diagnosed with....so I'll start here.
I'm a little concerned about my daughter. I don't know how much is normal age appropriate behavior, how much may be related to life experiences she's had so far, and how much may be ADHD.
Let me start with the basics. She is 10 years old, very ...
