Anyone here tried meditation or Transcendental Meditation?

Hi! I'm new to the forum (and, indeed, new to the whole AS thing, as I've only recently discovered that I have it) and just wanted some feedback from anyone who's tried meditative techniques with any success. I have problems with sleep (mind racing redundantly at night) and anger management (especially when someone distracts me while I'm engaged in something). Does daily meditation actually help? I mean, when I'm learning something new/watching a film/reading a ...

destined to lose

Aspergers syndrome destined to be likely to lose in life? I feel like 'living' is something that NTs are just programmed to do they just roll from one thing to the next like water off a ducks back. I will give an analogy I just thought up. In a fight one guy says to the other, ''ok, I am gonna come at you like this..." In life it doesn't work like that you cannot plan ...

Do you have a hunger of knowledge?

My mind is constantly wirring away. It NEVER turns off except to sleep (although your brain never technically "shuts off", just functions differently in sleep and "turns off" when your dead :?:). I am always going over my special interests in my head, reconfirming them to myself and creating new ideas based of new things that I am learning.

Recently, my anxiety and depression have overtaken this ...

To say you are an Aspie or not? My thoughts.

I think that a person is a package. How are you on the whole? Good? Then don't worry about it. People are far more concerned with your actions. No matter the reason, if you consistently do obnoxious things, no one will want to be around you. Never front load an excuse (or what would, at least, look like an excuse).

Being straightforward is not rude. Just be able to fully justify your stand. Truth is ...

Hello

Hi All,
I've been looking at this forum for a little while now, it has helped me to "self-diagnose."
Sometimes I think that its all in my head, but I'm pretty sure I have asperger's.
I am 24 years old and always felt different than other people, but I believe I've coped really well
I relate very well to the other posts I've seen, everyone always saying I'm "shy"
Not wanting to hug or touch ...

Meaning of life to you?

To live life fully and with a passion.
So I will have no regrets and may face death with ease.

To make a living doing it.
So I may provide a good life to those whom I love most...my family.

To help others on the widest possible scale.
So I may live life with honor.

I am an Atheist ("A" meaning not) - this has nothing to do with theology. It is pragmatism - very ...

Others ignoring you / Offended - Don't know what to do?

It is good to review the situation in your mind...it means you are a concerned person...you don't wish to offend.
However, once you have established that you were not the person at fault or that there was no miscommunication...you know who was. It is not your guilt...but theirs.
Should they not reply to you...you will have rid someone from your life that shouldn't have been there in the first place (IMNSHO ...

The importance of optimism

With optimism and drive, you can accomplish anything. The optimism allows you to see forward and opens hope - your goal becomes apparent. Drive allows you to overcome all odds to achieve your goal.

Pessimism is more akin to being a fatalist (no power to change your fate). Anyone who realizes that one's future is written by one's actions, is not a pessimist. You have the power to change your future...that much is plain. You ...

can you relate?

I've never been diagnosed, but when one of my friends had a son that was diagnosed with AS, and I started to relate with him more than I ever did his mother, I wondered.

I hate social situations. I know I love my boyfriend, but I never really feel it. I rarely look people in the eye. I prefer to be alone. My father and I get along much better than my mother and I ...
