Do you tell?

Do you tell people you have Asperger's? Why or why not?

I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's and I don't know whether to tell people or not. Most people are uneducated about it and consider it a mental disorder. I think it could make things worse telling them.

Are there any decent brochures to give people on Asperger's to educate them?

I think I have schizophrenia...

This is extremely hard for me to talk about. I'm having mini panic attacks just thinking about this. I am nervous.

For the past 9 months or so, I have been severely apatethic. I can laugh occasionally at something funny, or feel a tiny bit of happiness here and there, but nothing to the extent of what my feeling was. And I can't cry, which makes me feel like a cold, cold person. I felt ...

Time Passages

Here's a slightly amusing story. A week or two ago I was approached by a coworker (Jim) who said he had recently been asked about me. Turns out my coworker had visited a local business where my ex-HPD works. The HPD noticed my company's logo on Jim's shirt, and asked him if he knew me. Jim said yes, he knew me well, and asked how the other man knew me. The HPD said "we used ...

Differential diagnosis

There is a place for everyone to add the differences between Asperger's syndrome and other disorders which can be misdiagnosed with it.
It might help distinguish between them.

Feel free to add some new.

What is the difference between Schizoid Personality Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome?

There are some core differences between AS and SPD, the biggest one being that AS is a form of autism while SPD isn't. We could say that AS is a ...

It's been about a year

since i was raped. I dont really feel pain(not consciously anyway) but I do think about rape--not mine necessarily.
My bf is a bit concerned..really, just a bit, but still concerned.
I think I read somewhere that about a year later, the vic has recovered.
Also, since I'm seemingly past the traumatic part of it, is therapy regarding it pointless?
I was able to see the best shrink(who went to Harvard) for a few months, ...

Friends of NPD people

Quick question for those with NPD friends who are just regular friends. Not an SO or someone you have a lot of expections and needs from.

Does knowing about NPD make it easier for you to appreciate that friend for whoever he/she is, maybe someone with a common interest or whatever, and not be disappointed that you aren't getting what they can't give you? Or does it just make you want to drop that friend ...

Feelings about siblings......

I was in my younger sister's bedroom the other day and I found Magnum condoms in her room. She's 16

It made me feel very angry and depressed, but I'm wondering if part of it is just jealousy since I don't have a sex life. Thoughts?

whether this sounds like dd; how to cope with dd

So, I've lived in a sort of nebulous fog for a while now: I can think coherently enough, but I always have to return to the fact (and convince myself) that I'm the one thinking; I'm the one acting; I'm the one sensing. Ultimately, this produces a continuous internal monologue. What’s worse, my thoughts seem distant from themselves, contrived for the most part and often of a spectral quality. This feeling only exasperates in social ...

Admiring it

So usually when I pull out a few eyelashes to the point that it's noticeable I get so unbelievably frustrated with myself that I can't go out in public anywhere - including indoors - without sunglasses on. So after I pulled out over a centimeter of eyelashes from my right eyelid and not much less from my left eyelid, I figured when I looked in the mirror I would get the same frustrating feeling. But ...
