Do your parts have last names?

Just out of curiosity, do all parts in your system share a family name, have they their own last names, or do they just have first names?

In our system everyone has a whole name, including last one. We don't think we are relatives to each other and having just first name doesn't feel like enough. Since our background stories are different, it's clear everyone has their own last names as well. But names are changeable, like almost everything is, since they are just part of stories.

Inside Fourteen's system many have only first names or they don't have actual human name at all, but something to describe them. Their body has first and last name, like all main parts. I call him Fourteen in here, but it's not how we call him in everyday life. We call him by his body name because that's what we got used to. Name Fourteen came to use because he was going thru a changing process when I started first writing in here, and I didn't know if he was gonna change his name. He didn't in the end, but nobody in their system thinks their body name as their (any parts') own, so it's more like a system name. And since nobody uses it as their own name, Fourteen is as good system name for them than any else name would be. They are not keen on sharing their names anyway, only Leon was fully OK with that, and now even he isn't called that anymore.

Most of us use 'Flux' as a last name. We picked that as our system name, so it's like the 'family name' for all of us.

Viola picked a different last name for herself, she's the only one in our system afaik.

Yeah, a handful of us have last names. One has the last name of a branch of our family (cousins). Another has the same first and last name as a kid we knew outside the body. Several of our first names are last names of people we knew as a kid, for example, Carter. Some are the name of small towns nearby which (fortunately) pass as first names. Some are the middle or last names of people we'd heard of whose first name was John, the birth name.

A handful of my adopted son's alters have last names also. A couple of those share the same last names. For both of us, not everyone carries the body's legal last name automatically.

Not true. Arin, Melissa, V1, & V2, use Flux as the last name.

Yes but I don't know what any of them are. I just know they have last names. They find it invasive enough to say their first names so even telling each other their last names is not something they'd do.

Power is in a name. We all basically believe that and it's why we are happy to have such a common body name.

Some of the system have chosen themselves a last name of their own.

Some don't think much about it after knowing their first.

Great question and interesting to see the different perspectives.

The question came up once when AJ asked me. I was like, "I don't know. Never thought about it before now. What do you all think." To my knowledge everyone is satisfied with having a first name, but it's been nearly a year since it came up.

Also, most in SF's system like having names. A few are more indifferent. No one sees it as negative or invasive that I'm aware of.

A bunch of us do/did, too... I say did cuz like some of us are married to other parts and stuff, so names changed... But really it's more for like outside ppl to know us by so we don't freak ppl out and we can appear more normal. IDK we really make a deal out of it inside- now that we all like know and stuff.

So this is is like first name, then last name (Married, if applies).

So like worth noting though, we never really thought about names (well aside from first names) much until we were like online and interacting with Zor straight up and had to appear more "normal" cuz he had no idea about us, and most of US didn't know, and it was just a sorta "this is how it happened to work out" kinda deal.

Some of us go together, Angel and I were the first two (best I know and I've been around like forever and starting to get a better sense of that). Kitten and Kaleb were about the same time... etc.
And like Katya is Kaleb's little sister inside. IDK if when she came out she was just like endeared to him somehow or what... but inside she's adopted, as is Chloe and they had diff names before as little little kids...

IDK. it's confusing. We DO have last names for like interacting with ppl OUTSIDE... but we tend to not consider them so much INSIDE.

Kitten and I are basically like twins from diff parents inside... so we're sisters. Angel and Chloe are related... Kaleb and Katya... then there's Charles and his sister Emily and their dad Jamis. And Satin married there, so... and Noah is just kinda there... I guess. lol IDK.

We still haven't made a ton of sense of a lot of stuff. lol
