had a near meltdown earlier while out shopping. the grocery store was absolute torture. had to fight the urge to collapse to the ground and curl into a ball. cried frequently.

our anorexia wouldn't let us eat more than a few bites of lunch.

our new cat is settling in, exploring but still timid. we're leaving her alone.

feeling very vulnerable emotionally.

@ Jodi & Susie - Well, long time, no see! ;) Welcome back. (Okay, so we never really met, but hi!) We look forward to seeing Susan and M out here if they choose to give us an update. :)

Hello!

Nice to meet you! We are up really early, hitched the bike trailer up (sibling adapted the fitting so it fit the mobility scooter) so the dog could ride to the park and me and Susie could get to the park and let Susie go on the swings while no-one was around.

Once the game arrives Kit & Bobby will be out for the weekend and everyone else had promised them this weekend because they don't like celebrations they didn't go to the party on the body's birthday.(some of us see that date as their birthday but not all of us & some just hate parties!). Anyway cos the game wasn't going to be released for another month we'd promised them the whole weekend to themselves to play on it when it did arrive as our present to them!

I've just come to look for email about delivery times, to know how long me and Susie have got out this morning, but it hasn't come yet!

Susan and M will be out next Weekend to go meet with family. I'll leave them a message, it depends how soon before they have to get ready to go out that they come out, sometimes they are only triggered when the car pulls up to collect us and they have to be ready to lock up and go. They sometimes come out earlier for the whole day.

you're so brave going out shopping in these conditions! I used to love going shopping with Thea's friends at university but I don't know if I'd want to go right now. We're not allowed anyway right now. (cos of the Covid)

what happened with the outing was that she was 90 minutes late for her appointment so when we went out we were already pretty vulnerable. at the first stop some guy misgendered us very obviously and deliberately which upset us. next was the grocery store, by which point we were near meltdown. the moment we entered we knew we were in trouble, everything felt too bright, too big, too noisy. we cried almost the entire time and was shaking and trembling by the time we got out of the store.

sensory overload is torturous.

Sending moral support!

If you don't use them already, try to find nice earplugs and sunglasses to use when groceries shopping. It makes the experience a bit less awful.

We are contemplating getting clip-on sunglasses to clip them on another pair of sunglasses so we can better face the bright neon lights.

Hi everyone,

Sorry we've been away for so long. We've been busy with the job search, with therapy, and with other offline things, just trying to do what we can. We know that it's best for our recovery if we come here on a more regular basis, but we can only do what we can do.

The good thing is that we're trying. We're focusing on improved communication and cooperation, on accepting the value of incremental progress, and on appreciating the little things. The incremental progress happens as long as we try to do what we can.

Beyond that, you can see Laura's post in Salute of the Day (Snarky Vent Thread). That's where she talks about what finally brought us back here today.

We appreciate everyone here and send good thoughts to all.

Good to see you here, MDs.

We've been feeling a little disconnected from the community--not sure what's up with that. Therapy is in a fairly stable place for once, so that's good. Life is a little less stressful than it was for the past few months, so maybe we're just recovering from that.

Sending good thoughts to everyone.

Hi, MDs! :D Good to see you again. Sorry about the TV hassles.

@ Gang - So glad to hear that therapy is a stable place for you now! I hope it stays that way.

@ Daria - Wow. I don't know how you managed to shop in that state, let alone leave the house. You're braver than we are! Give yourself a pat on the back. You made it.

As for us, hm ... Not sure what to say. Things have been happening, but nothing much that I can talk about, really. Our air conditioning unit went out, so we're hot right now, even with a fan on us. New AC won't be here until Wednesday. :? Oh well! Mom acts like it won't be so bad waiting what with the weather predictions being what they are, but we'll see.

As for the things I can't mention ... it's like a new chapter is starting. Thing is, we've never heard of anyone who went through this before, so we have no idea what comes next or how things will play out. We'll just have to roll with the punches, I guess!

Hm, yes, I think I like posting on this thread so much that I'll take this as my job in the system. :) Marcella doesn't mind if I do. Expect to see a lot more of me!

I. AM. BEYOND. ANNOYED.

The professional workman for the kitchen, left some of the furnitures in the middle of the living room, but y'know, "it's okay, you can move them around if you need to, just do not open the drawers or they will faceplant because they are not attached on a wall".

Okay then.

He leaves on vacation and we have two unattached to the wall pieces of furnitures in the middle of the living room, who will faceplant if a drawer is opened...

...or if, under gravity and time, one of the "front" (in fact, it's in the MIDDLE of it) feet gives way and one of them faceplants. Which means the handles of the drawers got torn from the drawers, breaking the drawers in the process.

So I send a text message to the workman explaining the situation.

His answer? It's my fault cause I moved the furnitures around and I did not tell him to fix them to the wall.

What. The. Actuall. Literal. Everlasting. FORK?

He leaves is work half done in the middle of the living room and it's MY fault that catastrophe ensures?

I feel exhausted that yet again another workman is doing shirt in our appartment, leading to more issues for US.

At least this one did not have any improper behavior outside of this professional mishap but dang...

Our body is struggling with the heat we're just not used to this kind of heat in the Northern Hemisphere! Usually 18C is our maximum but its been consistently been in the 20's by 8-9am! ..and due to climb higher!

Been awake since about 2am with having to let the dog out (he's got 'tummy troubles' too with the heat), then just as we're getting back to sleep we need to go!

So we skipped his early walk today, could do with getting back to bed but the gardener is due to turn up to finish the weeding and cut the grass shorter than last time as he and his wife will be going back into shielding too...so have to wait until he's done before we can go back for a lie down.

Hoping it cools down soon, we usually have a cooler breeze and not as high temps as down south (they're hitting 30-31C I think) I don't know how people can stand to lie on hot sand cooking their bodies all day! (ie sunbathing on packed beaches!). What with the hot flushes too I feel absolutely drained of energy, just as we were getting it back!

Switching back to 'Energy saving mode' and hoping things have improved by the weekend!
