I feel like everything I say has a thousand parentheticals and a hundred-thousand asterisks, and no matter how much I nitpick it I just go from good -> better -> worst possible iteration like I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face, and that's why I hate when I do this because no matter how hard I try I'll never get it right and I don't have the time to worry about what there being a 'right' even implies.
