Re: Need help. First DBT is a ways off.. til then what?

Maybe you can't get in to see a DBT counselor right now, but perhaps you can see a regular one?
I have three shrinks. One for meds, one for talk therapy and one I just go see when I can't to the others (she keeps an open schedule). Perhaps you can find someone to just go talk to so that the incident does not go unnoticed?

Your GP could probably recommend someone, or another course ...

Older Brother - Younger Brother Abuse

So this is quite hard for me to talk about as I actually haven't told anyone, but I am in the process of recovery so I might as well get this out. I don't have my next pdoc appointment for a few days and I need to let this out:

I was sexually abused by my older brother during the ages of 8 to 10. I am unsure whether it actually extended until I was ...

Keeping a relationship going

I have never been able to stay in a relationship for very long, either because I grow bored or the person or I tend to want to be alone for long periods of time (and most guys don't like that). The longest relationship i have ever stayed in was probably 4 months..I always wondered if it had something to do with my BPD, because i read that we are really fascinated with someone, then one ...

hard to understand

So my partner is visiting her dying mother. Been gone now for a week and everyday she calls me tell me how awful it is to see her mother like that. When she left i told i failed to see the point to go watch her mother die because that's not fun, there'd be nothing she could do and once her mother was dead her mother wouldn't remember she was there so why bother?

Anyway ...

Does this sound like BPD?

Hello. I'm new to the forum.

I've been struggling mentally for just over a year now and I've recently stumbled across BPD. I've been in and out of therapy and not much has helped me.

I clearly suffer from a lack of self esteem, I feel as though I don't have many friendships. I feel awkward around people and most of the time aren't very interested in them. I find I over analyse people and ...

What possessed the desire to get help?

The one thing i can't grasp is how some of you are diagnosed ASPD. How did that come to be and why?

I also have always wanted to know why having the lack of empathy and tendacy to go above the government can't be seen as just a personality and not a mental illness. Yes, i am aware that this is far beyond the social norm, but why can't ASPD be considered a trait that ...

Is he Aspbergers

I recently ended a relationship with a 50 yr old man and I've been trying to sort out somethings that haven't made sense.
I was reading about autism like tendencies that lead me to here.
If anyone would care to comment on these traits he has:

Socially awkard; no close friends has work aquantances but able to connect or possibly shy.
Unable to connect with others emotionally or intimately.
Talks in very superficial terms even ...

Covert Narcissism...

So... I just read this:

http://www1.appstate.edu/~hillrw/Narcis ... ssist.html

And I can safely say that I can relate completely to everything. :/ since I don't see a psychiatrist or doctor, I'm not saying, 'yes, I definitely have NPD.' without an official diagnosis, but I'm pretty certain. It's something I've been thinking about for ages, but I didn't want to admit I was narcissistic because I thought that meant you HAD ...
