I never got taken out of the home. And I am now 21.

I guess the thing that is really getting to me lately is the fact that I will always have to have these people who don't even love me be my parents.

i didn't know it was abuse until i was about 13...well, i knew it was wrong but i tried to ignore it. now i sometimes get scared that one day i'll be an abuser and it really freaks me out!

What long term effects did living this this unstable environment have on you as an adult?

As a child, I was physically abused by my father (beaten with a board), as well as verbally and spiritually. I didn't realize it then but my mother emotionally abused me and continues to do so today. My father doesn't bother me anymore, and although I still resent him for abusing me as a child, I don't feel near the resentment I feel towards my mother.
