Different Sensations when Switching *might trigger*

I know there has been many posts in the past that explain what switching feels like for different people but I was curious to know if the sensation of switching or becoming co-conscious varies on which alter is becoming present.

For me the only two alters that have had some control of my body are Darren and Ted and I feel different depending on which one comes out. When I feel Darren is around I ...

Question about Dreaming

When you dream, do you see your alters as totally separate from you physically? Or do you switch and have one body like in real life?

I seem to be getting a mixture of both lately - if switching is an important part in the dream (for example, if I have a dream in which I'm surrounded by people who I mostly don't know, then we are all in one body and much of the ...

Twitching

I was reading through the Communication Between Alters thread the other day http://www.psychforums.com/dissociative-identity/topic104729.html and someone had mentioned that they communicated with their alters through twitching before other parts could hear each other. It really stuck out to me, so I tried it, and I think it works!

I seemed to be able to ask yes and no questions by having them either make my legs twitch or my arms. I showed my husband yesterday how ...

Involuntary self-pity and loathing

As someone who has been bipolar for almost 10 years I have taught myself to never feel sorry for myself and at times it can't be stopped and I just hit a low that is almost impossible to stabilise.

So more or less 6 months ago my younger brother fresh out of high school gets a really cool gift from his boss.. Not a bonus or increase but a car worth more than my yearly ...

relaxing alternative to swinging

Hello everyone
When I was a child I used to love to swing for hours. I had to stop when I was 20 plus because it made me nauseous (I think this is due to changes in the inner ear as you grow). Now my aspie daughter loves swinging and it reminds me of how much I used to get out of it. I guess it's in the same group of things as rocking. I ...

Your Informed Non-diagnostic Opinion

Please understand that I mean my question(s) in an entirely respectful way; that I do see a psychiatrist and have a dx of depression (on medication, 40mg citalopram); and that my psych and I have been lightly bouncing around the possibility of bipolar disorder really since my first appointment a few months ago. I've personally gone back and forth between being positively certain I do have it and absolutely convinced I don't - as you ...

New to seeking help, but need it

I have always had trouble asking for help because I don't have a strong support team in my life... at all. My friends aren't the typical best friends you see on TV shows/movies and I rarely see them now I've left school and am working. Work. The source of my anxiety, depression and the blossom of my eating disorder according to my self diagnosis, as I'm too afraid and unsure to seek professional help. I ...

A Multitude of self images in a lifetime

She sits quietly in the corner of the classroom, and idolizes the girl with the flowing hair and wistful manner. She admires the styles she wishes she had had the mind to put together herself. Jealousy ensues. She starts to dress like her, carry herself like her, talk like her. Finally she gets her hair done just like her. She gets a compliment. She is satisfied.

There is a dormant period. An intermission. Maybe when ...
