I think I have abused my little brother.

I've had a difficult time - mental illness, severe emotional abuse as a child, a few abusive relationships, and just an overall hard time adjusting as a young adult.

My brother is only twelve. He is the only person I have had for a long time to talk to. Now that I am more stable and rational, I realize that he has been extremely burdened both by my parents and myself. I have told him ...

One more Lamictal (Lamotrigine) Question

My question goes to those who use Lamictal as the sole medication with no additional one.

As I learnt, the most effective side of Lamictal (Lamotrigine) is preventing the depressive side of bipolar. So my question is, if it prevents depression but not mania and time to time or frequently if I have Hypomania or very rarely mania (my hypomania and mania are harmless, no money spending or no strange behaviors that give harm to ...

Influencing the Tics?

I posted on another (now-abandoned) forum back in '08 when we first started to realize what had been going on with my daughter since she was a toddler was Tourette's. You can see the thread here: http://tourettesyndromenowwhat.yuku.com ... eply-45437

Anyway, she is 12 and a half now and clearly does fit the diagnostic criteria for Tourette's. Nothing else has been identified. Her extreme anxiety stuff has gotten a lot ...

Mirtazapine - 'interesting' side effects...

I used to take Paroxetine, but it turned me into a non-sexual wooden plank with no ability or desire to even think about sex. For years.

Was changed to Mirtazapine to counteract the damage the Paroxetine did, but now I find it difficult not to think about sex. I get silly, overwhelming 'teenage crushes', and even (near as damn-it) spontaneous orgasm.

Has anyone else experienced this with Mirtazapine?

Thanks.

Another *me* post

Do you think my ex might be BPD as well?

On Saturday I was at my ex's wedding. On Friday night she texted me drunk "I love you. I love you. I love you"

Sunday morning she called me and was aggressive.

Monday we meet and make love (without protection).

Tuesday she tells me she stopped taking the pill since Saturday and she wants a baby.

I say ok, but tell her that she has ...

Efficacy of CBT

Abstract
Objective:

The authors assessed the methodological quality of randomized controlled trials of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression using the Randomized Controlled Trial Psychotherapy Quality Rating Scale (RCT-PQRS). They then compared the quality of CBT trials with that of psychodynamic therapy trials, predicting that CBT trials would have higher quality. The authors also sought to examine the relationship between quality and outcome in the CBT trials.
Method:

An independent-samples t test was used to compare ...

Hello, I'm new

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Matt. I am currently 20 years old and living in southwestern Ontario. I think the reason I am here is because today is the first semi good day I have had in the last few months and I wanted to try and do something productive while it lasts. I am hoping that by joining an online community I might be able to get some things ...

Fascination with Biographies

do you have a fascination for biographies, and can you read one after the other without boredom?

if so, do you find that you experience more empathy (ability to know what someone is feeling) and/or sympathy (concern for what someone is feeling) for the subjects of the biographies---or for fictional characters---than for people irl?

question two: do you experience more empathy (and/or sympathy) for animals, plants, etc. than you do for human beings?

question three: ...
