Yes, I heard on CBC that Ontario is now giving better tax breaks than B.C. now, so the movie industry is pulling up their tent pegs and moving out there instead. It brings a lot of cash to a province, that's for sure.
Btw, "Homecoming" was a good movie from Israel about two young women in Jerusalem who have to do military service and patrol the streets looking for, and registering, Arabs since there had been a rash of bombings. I like a lot of foreign films; even if the story, dialogue or cinematography isn't so great, at least I'm transported to another country and culture and it's almost always interesting.
I must say, I'm getting sick of watching certain U.S. actors such as:
Denzel Washington (even though he's been really good in a lot of things, I'm getting sick of his smooth character), Keanu Reeves (of course - a bit of a boob in my mind), Brad Pitt (of course! I mean, he's gotta be the worst at attempting foreign accents and he offers me little depth. I did think he was well casted in the movie Troy, however. He needs to be in movies like that where he's required to be a bit of a dolt), Robert DiNero (he's been great, but, again, overplayed), Viggo Mortenson (he's another one... I think he's done some great work, but, I mean, how many roles can a guy with hardly any expression in his face get, folks?), etc. etc. etc...
Then, I think of some actors with incredible range, such as Daniel Day Lewis or Dustin Hoffman. Those guys can really act like totally different people. I don't mind seeing them in a whole bunch of movies but there must be lots out-of-work actors out there that can do good work. Probably just don't sell movies as easily with up-and-comers.
Over for now,
