Why do people want children?

Forget about mental illness for a while and just let loose in here.

But does that mean there is something wrong with women who want to get married & have kids? No of course not.

I have a problem with women who say they got a real life when they had kids, that makes steam come out of my ears, my blood boil & commitment to non-violence be questioned.
Some women want kids, some don't, you shouldn't have to not have kids to be a feminist, and you shouldn't have kids to be fufilled.

But I always thought that if the desire ever arose I'd adopt from foster care & this would be when I'm at least fourty id not older.

Hi Mango. I'll only say it like this, I think women who say such things, that they only got a real life when they had kids, are weird, why would they say such a thing? it seems almost to be to make people feel bad when they don't

But likewise to the person who says it is dreadfully average, and complain about other peoples wishes and choices. The kids people have today will perhaps take care of you when you are old and in a home or in hospital  Be grateful somebody bothers.

Why even ask this question? It's a biological thing completely normal to want kids.

That's not to say anyone should feel bad or unnormal for not wanting them. Nobody has to want kids.

Why does anyone care so much about what others do?

I asked the question because I was bored, wasn't in a good mood at the time and was just curious why. I don't care what people do.

Must have been quite a weekend for you.

Congrats btw. :)

And for eveyone else. I was just ranting at the time. I get a little cranky at times so just ignore me if it bothers you. I dont hate kids, but not sure I want any. Then again my mind changes on this but rarely.

I've thought of overpopulation and the ability to do what I want in life.
People have kids for different reasons, so I won't really answer.
I know I want children. I had that amazing, exciting, child free life, and to be honest- it wasn't amazing and exciting 90% of the time.

It's true children bring problems by taking up cash and time, but so do my video games and pets. That is life, in order to enjoy something effort and money is involved. As far as overpopulation goes, I'm not going over my limit by having a child, and I don't really care so much anymore about making up for someone else having 3-10 kids. Besides, it isn't just about overpopulation but how much is consumed and not reused/recycled. Some people have a heavier ecological footprint. So, I will have one and maybe adopt one if I can. I was totally going to go the adoption route, but now I don't know if I'd qualify. I'm also in a place were children aren't impossible. I'm saner, more responsible, and have the potential to go off of disability soon. So, a little longer and hopefully I'll be able to do it.
Nothing appropriate comes to mind.

Once upon a time there was a man, his name was jimmy twinkle and his cat's name was timmy twiggle. One day jimmy was walking barefoot along the path to his country home then suddenly Ouch! cried jimmy as a thorn pierced his toe, jimmy was hurt very badly as he hobbled home to tell timmy. Now timmy was a stinker by nature and to jimmy's suprize his cat talked back! Oh noo cried jimmy "I must have been poisoned" & timmy cackled "Yes! you have been poisoned most foul jimmy and I have a tale to tell sinse this night you will surely lose yourself - one day a man found some flowers and stomped them away claiming to himself they dident deserve to be there.. the next year he came back and found the same flower's and said in anger "you don't deserve to be here!" and stomped with a mighty force but this time instead of hurting the flower alone he hurt his foot.. you see the flower grew thorn's this year just like the man grew mean to those who could hurt him. Jimmy wake up! you were not poisoned - it was mearly some herb from the wood's I burned to trick you.

Could anybody already having kids dare to explain us what is so amazing in having them? I mean not this stuff - my life has a sense now!

Everybody in this topic is just theoretic, with no experience and so we can not judge. Maybe we WILL like it, who knows??

Frankly speaking I do not want to - right now. Although I unnderstand it may make me better - stronger - so on..Just have no force nor wanting for the moment. But I remember once I really dreamed of, it was just about instinct..
