My motto is "If I dont tell anyone about my 'labels' then they wont ask questions. If I chose to tell them I have to expcet questions and sometimes expressions of other peoples ignorance, fear or envy"

It is human nature to make fun of things that people are scared of or dont understand. Some start bullying too. I am not saying it is OK but it is human nature. Best thing is to only tell those people who you can trust. And that might be just one person [if you are lucky]

When my behaviour is weird and people ask questions this way I say "mind your own"

Wait. Dude. You haven't called me a bitch. So you don't SOUND like Rage.
Don't be insulted, but this is awfully nice for words partially from Rage.

Not so much stupid comments as insults, but hey, what else to do but laugh about it? In fact, we're now treating it as a game. We're keeping points for every time someone reacts oddly to us being multi.

Hey Katariina, I am sorry that your SO is in denial. Total denial. It must be really difficult for him (?) to accept your condition. Denial is all about fear. For some people, the fear is about knowing that someone they love has suffered brutal abuse. Would he talk to a therapist? Or come here?

Thank you Una+. He thinks that mental problems are a matter of whether or not people can conquer them themselves, that's the problem. So he doesn't believe they can be as elaborate as they can be for some people because if they were stronger they would be able to get over the problems. The only reason he thinks like that is because he (thinks) he had gotten over his childhood pain on his own and pushed his way out of that. But not everyone can easily overcome such trauma.

And it is about fear as well, that I'm not normal and he couldn't prevent the things that have scarred me so badly now back then. So maybe with some work between us he can start letting down his manly guard and open his ears and mind a bit more :).

Heh. Katariina, it sounds like your guy "stuffs" his stuff inside. I did that for decades. It worked great, until it stopped working and my compartments of dissociated stuff began leaking. Hence the PTSD and some other weirdness that could have gotten me into major trouble and finally the apparent DID.

Exactly the issue. I think one day all of his problems that he thinks he has dealt with will all come back to him, which I fear. What works for one isn't always what works for another though so maybe he has passed that in his life and it won't be a problem for him in the future.

I think it's more about "being a man" with emotions than really taking care of the roots of the issues though lol.

In fact, why do you feel entitled to constantly point out the mistakes in others, UnmotheredChild? What gives you the right to be the one who says "Why this" or "Why that"? You might not be the only one not annoyed by these questions, but this is supposed to be a safe forum where people can say this kind of $#%^ without consequence. If you would like to complain, start a topic and say it there. But not here. Makes you look like an attacker, not someone sympathetic to ones with alters, understand? Thanks, and have a nice day.

So what are you saying? It is scary when one is different or has a different opinion to you? I am not pointing out mistakes. I am asking questions. I am not complaining, I am challenging a certain way of thinking. I am being different and maybe that is scary for you.

I am asking "Why do you feel entitled to have others understand your inside world? Especially when you your self said BAM suddenly you had this label. You feel like you are allowed to feel confused by it and not understand but others should not be allowed to be confused?
It seems like you find it difficult when people are different to you. People who ask 'silly questions' and me who is 'pointing out mistakes'. And that is why people like me get drummed out, difference is frightening. It is quite narcissistic.

You are not my victim and I am not an abuser. You know nothing of me and what my labels are.

Seriously I dont understand why people (AKA UnmotheredChild) have to be so negative and condescending, I guess that is just part of their own $#%^.

Again you do not seem to be able to tolerate difference. I am different to you. That does not make me negative or condescending. But you might feel that way.

Here is a conversation that took place yesterday, between me and a very close friend who has been listening to me talk about my crisis from the start, first PTSD then DID. My crisis began when an insider fell in love with a stranger.

Friend: "I still don't know what you see in this guy."

Me, shrieking and sobbing: "That's exactly the point, I don't know either, it isn't me who is in love with this guy!"

Haha, I've had the exact same problem Una!
Sophie fell in love with someone I had no idea about, so when I was me, I'd feel this overwelming feeling of lust but had no idea who it was aimed at!
