Hi MDs - Wow you really keep track of everybody.

Some of our teens are on the other side of a big wall inside. Colin used to live over there but he came to our side in therapy. He says there are more Teens over there but they're not ready to come here. We're not sure we want them over here either because they are probably going to be trouble.

There are teens in our system because some bad things happened around then. Is that the same for everybody? (You don't have to answer if it's a stupid question. I was just wondering.)

Iain
Iain - 14, Colin - 17, Evan - 7, Cody - 16, & Host - the adult out front

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?

Hi Iain,

it is not a stupid question. I seem to have alters that came around times when bad things happened. I have littles where I can't seem to have any association with a specific trauma. my old T once pointed out something he found interesting - that we had an alter with every personality "type" (i forget the term he used) of teens in general. that teens tended to segregate into these groups and we had an alter for each "type" sorry I forget the right word. so maybe there is something with that too.

we have alters behind a wall too....is that similar for everybody? Same thing with K he came over, but sometimes says he's the spokesperson for bigger badder people.

I am not actually sure who is writing......
keep ya head up, Don't let up, keep slayin em

not sure what the point was.

I like reading all the comments about the teens in the system....Yes the teens get bored with adult stuff and like to still do teen things like have the little pee on the Christmas tree, or have the little crawling through a hatch looking for santa clause as he gets stuck, good times LMAO....

....I can say living my 13 yr old body/host he also has a teen alter who says he is a yr older the the host....Luke is the protector, Mr. Serious but likes to do fun stuff wants to be treated as a young man, but mess with the little so I am always having to intervene and parent them all

........Just last night hubby and I were talking about working with Luke as when he is not happy he caused issues in the system and does not like to come out much. My husband called him out today and did "father/son" stuff today all day long....When he walked by he gave my husband a fist bump "hey dad" and kept on going...........It really seemed to help as he had his father/son time.

Just from observation of having teens both like the kid stuff but both like to be given the opportunity to feel as though they are at an age where they can be trusted to do more adult stuff, but not the adult responsibility to go with it. ....Just as any teen boy would like to do.....

This is not a stupid question, I think it is one of the things that most try to understand figure out.

My son's teen alter was created when he was 11 and an 18 yr old verbally and physically attacked him at school. He came forward hence the protector..........The little was created when he was 7 when he had to go the principals office for pulling the fire alarm, he was so scared, and hence the little alter was created...............My son's DID I think is a tad different then most but trauma is in the eye of the beholder. He falls in the autism spectrum, but very very high functioning as the to the school district, many many dr's could never pin point what was up......School has been a nightmare since daycare but we always got the he is ADHD and ODD and needed more discipline and structure. But the case was he was unable to handle the basic setup of how the school classrooms were structured. He has tested 98% for his non verbal deductive reasoning, which means looking at problems and figuring out to fix them. But falls in less than 2% for verbal intake and switching between stimuli, which means complete anxiety in classrooms settings and social settings.....So his trauma was all day every day in the school settings that did not adapt to his special needs so he adapted to them and handling it by dissociating. He is in a special school now that adapts the classroom to his needs and they are so accommodating with what we need it is amazing.

I think most of the system is made up of teens and then a few young adults and littles. Probably because the body is in the late teens but technically an adult... It's a little hard to pinpoint each one because everything is really blurred lately, but a lot of us are still in those teen years. This could result in ways of thinking that, while acceptable, can get a little irrational compared to the norm, especially with the angry dude here who really seems to love going and typing in all caps to friends

I don't think that's necessarily a completely bad thing though for those questioning that.. it's okay to have a mix like that, I think. It also helps to keep an understanding of other people who are that age, at least to me..

Also, I'm a little new so I'm still getting used to writing things here, I apologize :'D

Hi all,

Because our body is at a teen age, the majority of our team are teens. TA is 14, Sven is 16, Red (newly confirmed) is 19, and I'm 18 (turning 19 pretty soon). We have some adults and I'm sure we have some littles, but neither come out much, if at all. The adults in our system have not really played much of a role in day-to-day life yet, even though we're now in college—TA actually co-hosts much more often, and Red has been more or less a little active. We are working on making it work (:
Host/s
DID/OSDD, cPTSD, ADHD
Hosts—18n INFJ (they/them)
Sven—rational, rejects affection ~16m ISTJ
Atrias (TA for short)—BPD teen, co-host ~14m ESFP
Shadow—efficient robot, no age/m ESTJ
and plenty more.

There are 360 degrees—why stick to just one?

I'm suspecting that I have one, although I'm not sure. Sometimes I really feel like a teenager, espcially when I am socializing or out doing things like shopping or driving.

Not for us. In our system, trauma holders (and non- trauma holders) can be of any age. In fact, we see non- trauma holders as a necessary part of the equation at any age when trauma occurs.

Your Mileage May Vary (tm).

I doesn't seem any of us sustained abuse in teen years, that all happened in pre-teen years, but three of our teens seem quite angry. We have at least one who experienced awful early abuse and aged to teen. But most of our teens seem to be here to answer the question what do we do with our time, or how do we get by, or maybe how do I figure out what to do when (I'm broken and) the positive stuff from both parents disappeared over night."

The father died a week before we entered a new school and the mother went into a couple years of depression. We went from being a popular kid to almost an outcast and that was a painful, confusing experience. All sports-skilled alters went inside and I was a weird kid who went through all sorts of crazy avoidance to not have to I guess that was traumatic yeah, I hadn't thought of it that way. But it still wasn't as awful or destructive as the childhood abuse.

I've definitely had the experience at times of acting really immaturely, like a teen. I recall that happening mostly around other people. The embarrassing experiences stick with me most.
