Dragons are the one mythical creature which I totally admire... there are many differing theories and images of dragons from Europe through Asia and with each different area they have different attributes. Many see dragons as an evil creature but I believe they are more like people and have both good and bad amongst them. I believe that dragons are in matter of fact a noble beast that is far more misunderstood than any other creature.
For example many people love dolphins but I am sure many are totally unaware of how evil and twisted these majestic creatures can be. They can be very violent and completely callous and because of that higher intellect this too can make them far more dangerous than people would be comfortable with.
The same can be said of our humble household cat, so comfortable and cute in many ways yet so dangerously calculating and efficient when it comes to killing. It is interesting to see how adaptive they are, especially in an environment that wasn't designed for them such as Australia. Feral cats reign supreme in many areas of the Outback. Swift, efficient, silent and secretive killers who have no regard for the plight of the smaller indigenous animals of Australia (many of which are now endangered by these once cute and cuddly creatures).
Anyways back to the real reason of this blog - Dragons, they are majestic creatures and have a strong noble place in folklore. Of course the main thing is the evil side of them but then that is normal with anything, you have good and evil in everything.
Currently I have 1 dragon tattoo on me and I have recently found the 2nd image that will become my second tattoo and it also has a dragon in it, but it also incorporates some Celtic imagery and a few other elements too which have a strong meaning to myself. I have always like dragons and my first memory of dragons was actually a dream I had as a young boy, I had my very own dragon and trained it as it grew up. This dragon was very big and powerful and it did eat some very bad nasty people and that is probably why I remember this dream so well.
Looking into the dragon dream a little more I just realised a few more things about some of the aspects of the dream and having the dragon. I think the main thing was that the dragon could fly which meant it was able to ride it and get away from the bad things that were happening in my life. It was also strong, powerful which I didn't feel but more than anything it was protective. Which at the time was something I felt I needed and my own family wasn't providing.
