It sounds to me that you are suggesting that atheists can't have any meaning in their lives (of course I could just be reading that into what you have written). One doesn't have to believe in a god in order to have meaning in one's life. I do believe in God of the Judeo-Christian faith, but I know some atheists who seem to have a much more enjoyable life and who have thought about killing themselves less than I have. Believing in a god doesn't make one exempt from mental illness.

I do agree that finding meaning in life is a good thing. But I also believe that there are many choices in this world from which one can derive meaning. One could argue that atheists are able to find more meaning out of life in the here and now, because they generally believe that's all they have; whereas people who believe in a god and an afterlife have less incentive to discover a meaning in this life.

Actually, there are many examples where people of faith are more prone to suicide simply because they believe there is an afterlife...i.e. suicide bombers, the Jim Jones cult, etc.

I didnt mean to start a creation evolution debate. He mentioned he was an atheist and that he didnt want spiritual or moral help. So i commented on those things. In his case i hope he doesnt kill himself.

I'm not dead yet. I just got tired of certain people who come in here and hijack the thread with a religious agenda...you know people who no matter how clear that you make it that you are not interested in discussing their pet religious beliefs...just keep butting in over and over and over.

I don't have any more patience left for being cross-examined by a pompous, holier-than-thou...ASSHOLE.

Thanks Port for f**king up a perfectly good thread with your religious #######4. There are multitudes of other sites where you could go and indulge yourself but no matter how many times I tried to get this thread back on track you had to pull it back to me being an
atheist.

You're a bigger loser than I am.

I like your style!

If your still reading this scartissue, i just want to say i can feel your pain. Life is hard, and people are sometimes cruel and ignorant. In the end we will all die, and personally i don't believe in a afterlife. You just disappear in thin air or something. Never to return. Eternity is a long time. I don't know what i could say to lessen your burden in this life, but know that your not alone.
