Schizoids Dating Schizoids.

Postby TheCollapse » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:10 pm

I've never been in what I would call a "successful" relationship.
If a girl wants to see me well.. ever, I immediately feel smothered. I really don't even bother dating anymore, because I simply can't handle the concept of having someone be dependent on me, or having the obligation to spend time with them. I've always been told that the level of space and lack of dependence I require/reciprocate are unreasonable, but I have to think that another schizoid would only appreciate it.

Participating in this board has made me wonder, how would a relationship be if a schizoid was to date another schizoid?
Do you think it would be dysfunctional to the level of just being pointless, or could it be so odd that it could work?
If you've got experience with this situation, how did it work out?

honestly, i think it would be pretty nice. since neither one of them really need anyone else, they could just do something together every once in a while when they both felt like it. maybe they'd have sex on occasion, but not too much. they'd get the other one's schizoid behaviors (things that might upset or confuse nons, like wanting to pull a disappearing act for a couple days, your barely opening up, not showing any warmth, maybe not wanting to share a room or a house/apartment, etc). there wouldn't be much intimacy going on, so they'd feel fairly safe around the other.

it might work out pretty well, honestly, if two schizoids ever managed to find one another. O.o

That legitimately sounds like the perfect relationship to me haha.

But could you date yourself?

I wouldn't even have the incentive to ask myself on a date, let alone say "Yes" if the question were asked.

I knew someone I highly suspected to be a schizoid who lived like 20 minutes away from me. I asked him if he wanted to get coffee or something and he said no. So I wouldn't know  that was a while ago, though. the idea kind of seems stupid to me now. What would be the difference between schizoids dating or just being friends?

Sexually apathetic, no point. Any interest about a relationship with another schizoid comes more from curiosity than actual desire to be in the relationship. Seems like it could be interesting to have someone to speak with that understands and relates to the way you feel, and wouldn't force dependence/responsibility/emotional attachment on you.

I guess that's true.

i wonder if two schizoids could be friends, if they actually ever got together or did anything....

i just can't picture any schizoid really calling up another one and asking them if they wanted to hang out. like, they'd be so reclusive and passive that they'd never really do anything...

Well, I personally much prefer online/text based friendships usually. They're much more passive, and there is much less implied obligation or responsibility to the other person. I'm not really one for "hey lets do things!" with people... usually it just feels forced and false.
