So you want to be the host. Sure. You can ask nicely. You can overpower the others. But the way most of us get to be host is as follows. The others overpower you and push you out front and make you stay there to handle the daily grind of the life of a host. Cleaning the toilets, doing the laundry, washing the dishes. Etc. They come out just for the good parts or in dire emergency. Bwahahaha.
Dx DID older woman married w kids. 0 Una, host + 3, 1, 5. 1 animal. 2 older man. 3 teen girl. 4 girl behind amnesia wall. 5 girl in love. Our thread.

ROFL. Exactly. Or they go: oh come on, you're so GOOD at this. You're the most mature person and you're EXCELLENT at mediation. No, honestly, we wouldn't know what to do without you....

Rats :-)

But seriously, at least in our system I am the host because I'm best at functioning as a channel for the others. As Gabriel put it so charmingly, I'm like an extension chord with a lot of plugs that one or more of them can plug into to connect to the outside. I suppose someone else could do this, but I'm best at it, so its my job.

As the host in this system I am actually quite peeved about this.

When I wrote the good parts I was actually thinking the really hot sex. There has been a lot more hot sex than dire emergencies, and the not-so-dire emergencies I have to deal with myself.

I m new at this, but wanted to share my experience.

I dont want to be the host, but the others have chosen me.

I find it a bit contradictory as they like to come out at times without warning, and it disrupts daily life every now and then.

So my answer would be: everyone could say who they d prefer, like a votin?

Understandable. When we still had a host in our system it was actually quite tiering. Those of us who have been hosts can definitely attest to being there for the daily grind, but when great things happened or when things, such as hot sex, happened - where were we? Almost always we lost time for that. Of course that was well worth it when we also lost time for trauma events. But now that trauma is more rare, we have found a no-host system good so we can all take part in both the boring and the wonderful. Your first post made me laugh, I must admit :)
